are they serious?? whaaaaaaaat the players needs suits to watch his teamates play now!!!!!!! this is some BS right here whats next? all fans needs a tie and pants to get in the arenas?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Purple Fever:</div><div class="quote_post">Iverson should just pay 100K of advanced fines and get it out of the way.</div> Hehe...any links?
I really don't see what the big deal is. Refs, coaches, and everyone else have to wear suits. Why not them? The NBA is basically forcing them to look very neat and professional before games. What's the big deal?
I pray to God that they don't make a fan dress code, they would never do it but w/e hopefully they ownt.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Purple Fever:</div><div class="quote_post">Iverson should just pay 100K of advanced fines and get it out of the way.</div> lol good one purplefever. This isnt so bad,it would clean up the NBA's look, not that its bad though. We will see alot of players wearin nice things. BTW-this rule only applies if ur injured or out right?
David Stern looking for Media Attention Again. David Stern is looking for Media Attention Again. (he can't get enough of it) The list looks like a military school or maybe the Boy Scouts. This is hilarious. It's like telling Donald Trump or Rusell Simons what to wear on a daily basis. When you are a multi-millionare and have worked your ass off to earn your living you DESERVE to wear whatever you please (as long as it's not bluntly offending anyone.) Telling David Stern to compose a dress code is like asking Allen Iverson to do the Accounting and Payroll for the 76ers. It's just not their area of expertise. I'm the first one to admit that it might appear nice if every player looked as sharp as Michael Jordan did in his $5,000 suits. But forcing a professional basketball player to wear a suit is not going to tell me anything about their character or professionalism. Of course, the league wants their players to look professional, but this is way too far. Below are a couple that should rack up the fines: -Headgear of any kind while a player is sitting on the bench or in the stands at a game, during media interviews, or during a team or league event or appearance (unless appropriate for the event or appearance, team-identified, and approved by the team) -Chains, pendants, or medallions worn over the player's clothes. -Headphones (other than on the team bus or plane, or in the team locker room) -Appropriate shoes and socks, including dress shoes, dress boots, or other presentable shoes, but not including sneakers, sandals, flip-flops, or work boots. One even funnier note: Marcus Camby proposes players should receive a stipend to pay for the clothes. You make a zillion $$$$ dolars Marcus. Stop being such a cheap ass. We've all seen your tricked out rides on the 'Unique Whips' tv show.
I think this is absolute bogus. Most of these guys (excluding newly drafted High Schoolers) are grown men and know what is acceptable to wear. This is not a Elementary School this is the NBA and this is about the only bad thing Stern has done.
this is so ridiculous. the players should be able to wear what they want within reason. stern is out of his mind.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">BTW-this rule only applies if ur injured or out right?</div> Nope. Applies to team events such as conferences after games and stuff too. And if I remembert correctly, you also need to dress Business Casual for the team plane flights as well.
The dress code is stupid, the players should be allowed to wear what they want and be free to express themselves in their fashion.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting bballer768484:</div><div class="quote_post">The dress code is stupid, the players should be allowed to wear what they want and be free to express themselves in their fashion.</div> I remember when Nash was out with the back problems last season, I thought it was cool that he showed up in a t-shirt and jeans instead of dripping with diamonds and bling. The only dress-code should be non-offensive clothing, ie nothing with offensive words/symbols or whatever. Period. Whether for one player that's a nice $10k suit or just casual wear, it should be up to them. They're adults, let them make their own decisions.
I'm wondering if this will have an affect on players giving post game interviews...Maybe they'll just leave the arena right after the game to avoid having to get all dressed up, just to go home. I'm sure what every NBA player wants after a game is to have to get all dressed up just to look nice for the media..
Good luck to those guys that are goign to be on those long plane rides with shoes and fitted pants and shirts. From a personal experience it's not the most comfortable thing in the world.
I have to say, I don't know what the big deal is. Every other layer of management and corporate structure in the NBA is required to wear suits and look like an average joe business jerk. Any office environment is the same way, this is just nothing outrageous, and shouldn't be regarded as such. But Marcus Camby is right, most major corporations, such as the NBA, offer some sort of clothing stipend. So that should be no big deal either. But the NBA player's association will have to be the ones that negotiate that, and chances are, since it is a form of income, they will have to wait for a new CBA, which is also kind of silly, but whatever.
Why is that this is a big deal? NFL players dress classy all the time, even if it is just going from their house to their home stadium. Is it to much to ask to look somewhat presentable? Their "bling" is rediculous and completely un needed, what is that supposed to represent? Do rags or what ever they are do not belong in interviews. This just furthers my argument why NBA stars are just brats
I tottaly disagree with this rule, but at the same time I think its not that hard of a rule to follow. As stupid of a rule it is, players still shouldnt rebel and make to much noise about it, they shouldnt be worrying about how they look off the court like a damn fashion f*g. This rule is horrible for plenty of reasons: 1.Grown men can wear whatever they want, there grown men in a FREE COUNTRY. 2. Fining and getting a player in trouble because of what there wearing off the court makes the league look like a private school, Im sure they have better things to worry about then how a player looks off the court. 3. Players are devoted to their teams, and practice hard all year to benefit the team, and even though they get paid millions, taking there freedom of wearing what they want is ridicilous. All in all this rule is dum as hell, but players should follow it and keep their mouth shut because its not that big of a deal.
