Did he say this jokingly, and some lame sportswriter is trying to spin it on everyone to sell papers? I just don't see how Artest could make a statement like this and be serious about it. Besides, David Stern would have intervened immediately.
my money's on artest. he's a fighter. just because you're big doesn't make you a good boxer. the most important thing is to have stamina and be agile. boxing's different from a streetfight. besides, you ever seen one of shaq's punches? he throws em all lopsided and like a 10 year old. a real punch is best when its thrown head-on. remember that barkley also took down shaq before too. big guys lots of time are full of talk and dont have much experience, fighting is all about mentality.
Remember there is a little bit of precedent for this, not boxing, mind you, but Karl Malone and Rodman wrestling was the closest thing, and made them both some spectacular money. And any decent lawyer would find a way to make this work if they both wanted to do it. Entertainment contracts are so loaded with loopholes, my grandmother could set this up. Nevertheless, I don't think either of these players (well, actually Big Ben anyway) is stupid enough to piss off Davis Stern to this kind of level. While I would be entertained beyond belief, I would also be hard pressed not to wonder about the repercussions, so I guess it would be a guilty enjoyment. Either way, this is just self-indulgent stupidity on the part of Ron Artest, and let's not forget that money doesn't make you smart, a good person, or even particularly well-rounded, so let's not give the credit where it isn't due.

If Ben just pushed him and Artest let it go, Ben would have been suspended for a few games and Artest wouldn't of had any problems.
