Smith, who has been bothered by left knee pain, did not practice Monday and will probably sit out against the Pistons. Smith has yet to play in the exhibition season.

Coach Terry Stotts is not yet overly concerned about the playing time that Smith has been missing.

"Joe's been around, he knows how to play the game well enough . . . he's into it as far as watching the practices and seeing what we're trying to do," said Stotts. "So from a mental standpoint I think he'll be fine. Physically, I think I think he'll be able to pick things up once he gets on the court. He'll be all right."

The Bucks have been beset by injuries so far as Smith has missed all three games, T.J. Ford hasmissed two and Jiri Welsch, Michael Redd and Mo Williams have missed one each.

Welsch sat out Saturday's game against Cleveland with a thigh bruise, but Stotts was hoping that he would be able to practice today.</div>
