Jameer Nelson is going to be the man this year for the Magic, he is going to come in and take over the reigns at point guard, he is going to start and be nice one two punch with Steve Francis. Orlando might have a chance to sneak into the playoffs.
I must say I have to agree with you. We all know how much potential he has and the skill level of Nelson is unbelievable. He was the man at St Johns and you do not win player of the year honours for being a scrub!!! He showed some positive signs towards the end of last season, and with another pre season and working together with Franchise and the team, he should really start to blossom. I think you are spot on the money with that assertion.
I agree also, Nelson really started showing what he had as soon as he's entered the league and has only imrproved since in my eyes. He had the role at starting for a couple of games and played it well imo also. This year would be no different with Steve and Jameer. Both of them work so well together and they could really liven the Magic up with some good fast-paced offense this season. I really look forward to seeing my man do his thing.
What a TimFlem sighting? I hope Jameer is the starting PG, he's capable and he's a great player he's one of my favorites actually but I dont think he'll get it as quick as you guys say. Keyon's here, and Stevey's the man right now so I dont think he'll have top priority but I sure do hope so.

That is my preference and then bring Jameer off the bench for 25-30 mins. As you guys know, I am completely against Jameer and Stevie starting together, so I would prefer to see Stevenson or Dooling start alongside Francis. If Francis gets injured or stays injured, then start Jameer at PG for sure, but I just don't like both of them starting together.

He might be finally ready to breakout as one of the more dominate SG in the game. Stevenson definitely is athletic enough and shoots the ball pretty well. If he works on his D a little more and FTs i dont see why he cant be a solid fill at the SG position. P.S. dont forget to watch beyond the glory with Steve Francis on Sunday all.
Except Gators and Micky, nobody seems to be up-to-date with the Magic. Steve is going to play PG and Stevenson SG, no Jameer at PG at least for the beginning of the season. You also must consider Dooling, kind of a combo guard is going to get some minutes at PG and SG, especially after his preseason showing so far. There is not really much left for Jameer and I smell a trade in the air.

He will be able to take some pressure off of Francis on the defensive side of the ball, he wont' be asked to really contribute that much on offense, but when they call his number, he will produce. I'm glad someone is finally taking my side.

Coranor i agree... i dont think they have been updated...
I dont see any jameer trade happening... We have a nice setup going right now where Francis and Stevenson start and have Jameer and Dooling back them up. We get hurt at size but for that amount of time we have to very quick guards running the back court to give the other two some time to rest. I think its gonna be fun to watch. Our 2nd unit can be very good if we stay healthy.
You all took my Francis-Stevenson/Dooling starting stuff...Now I cant prove the uninformed fans wrong. Anyways I have been disappointed with Nelson this preseason. I hope he picks it up. I am sure he will but cmon Jameer you are better than you are showing now. I dont see a trade with Jameer or any player other than augmon at this point because we need to keep as many good players at all the positions as possible with the injuries we have been getting. Good thing about SG is we have 2 players who are about equal and both can do great things. Dooling and Stevenson both are looking nice this preseason. Dooling will prove a lot of people wrong this year who said he was a bad player to get and a waste of money.Stevensonw ill show the critics he got from not performing greatly his first seasons. I expect good things this year.
Jameer is just too good to be a backup PG. Depending on how well Diener is going to be, there's going to be a trade. Basically, we've got 4 players who can play PG (Steve, Jameer, Diener and Dooling) and 3 who can play SG (Stevenson, Dooling and Hedo from time to time), there are not enough minutes to make them happy and when the right trade comes along, see us trading one of the PGs.
It has been clear throughout preseason that the Magic want to start Francis and Stevenson and have their second string play small ball. From what I saw at the Hornets game, we looked good when Keyon and Jameer were on the court together. Since Keyon is a bigger and better defender, he stuck the team's scorer while Jameer took one of the other guards. This worked well and is really what won us that game. At one point the Magic were down by 16 points and it wasn't until Nelson and Dooling came in that we turned the game around and won. We have many options this year and so far it has been great seeing everyone gel together.
A.Nelson isnt starting for those of you who think that B. I doubt we will make a trade. C. We have 5 guards(hedo is NOT a guard. He may play it every once in a while but that doesnt make him have to play it. Most of the time he will play it if we need scoring with Francis,Turk, Hill, Garrity, Howard or something. 5 guards is not too much. Depth is GOOD. Having a backup that could start on other teams is GOOD. My god...How hard is it to understand.

Hedo will also get like 25-30 mins a game and SG would be his best bet to get the extra 7-12 mins. So I agree with him a little. Depth is good, but when you can get something pretty good(which I think we can for Jameer) for a bench player, you do it. We still will have the depth to be able to combat injuries.
Why is it so difficult for people to spell my nick correctly? I think I need to change it, have been using it for long enough now. And thanks Gators for backing me up. I've said this in other threads, Hedo and Hill combined last year for about 60 minutes per game, those extra 12 minutes per game either one of them spent at SG. While I see Hill's minutes decrease slightly (coach Hill and Hill himself said this already), I still see Hedo and Hill playing at the same time for a few minutes per game. I doubt that Hedo or Hill replace in this case the PF, and therefore they take away time from the guards. Having depth is not bad but having a misgrunted player is bad. Jameer talked all summer about becoming the starting PG and now he isn't. I hope this doesn't turn into a chemistry problem but I see us solving the issue as soon as the right trade comes along. Mind you, I don't predict who is going to be traded because I don't know.
I seem to remember that at times last year Hedo played 4? Am I completely mistaken? he's certainly not a real post player but they've played that way a few times with only one real lp scorer. Am i completely jumbled or did he play 4 on occasion?

It will be interesting to see how things go for us this year. We're loaded with often overlooked talent. Our weaknesses will, in my opinion, be rather obvious from the get-go (as opposed to last season, when we crashed and burned in the latter half). Jameer will be a stud someday. Hopefully management realizes that, and have him in their long-term plans.
