<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">EUGENE, Ore. - If this is Deron Williams' learning curve, he's going to be Albert Einstein by season's end.
The Jazz rookie, cognizant that he needed to adjust his game to avoid fouls while retaining his aggressiveness, aced the point-guard midterm Thursday, helping Utah rout Portland, 92-73, on the University of Oregon's McArthur Court.
Williams, who committed three quick fouls Monday in the Delta Center, seemed more annoyed with himself than the referees, and determined to correct the most noticeable flaw in his game.
"It's a whole different game than college," Williams said. "They call it completely different, so I've got to learn how the game is called. That's going to be important."
Fouls weren't important at all in this preseason laugher, at least not for Williams. The rookie played 21 minutes and was only whistled once. And it's not like he was simply avoiding contact - Williams drew at least five fouls on his opponents, including a couple on Sebastian Telfair, at the beginning of what could become an intriguing long-term rivalry.
Best of all for the Jazz, Williams wasn't the only effective point guard in this one. Milt Palacio helped Utah set a blistering pace in the first quarter, racking up five assists in the first nine minutes alone (and seven for the game), while Keith McLeod kept the Jazz's fastbreak moving in a 25-14 second quarter.</div>

I know its early, but I love how Williams plays...he's a steady, strong defender who can run a team, and he can shoot and score...he's definitely going to be a great one if he continues to soak up all he can...I wish Stockton was an assistant coach or something so that he can help Williams adjust to the pro game quicker...
