LA Times <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Struggling second-year guard Sasha Vujacic, whose outside shot has not been falling in the exhibition season, is a candidate for the developmental league, Laker Coach Phil Jackson said Friday. Vujacic, drafted No. 27 by the Lakers in 2004, has made one of 14 shots, and only one of nine from three-point range, in five exhibition games, numbers that have Jackson pondering the possibility of sending him down to the Fort Worth Flyers. "Sure," Jackson said. "Anybody's who's under two years [in the league] is an option to go down there. You have a 15-man roster, how many two-year-and-under players do we have in reality? We only have like three or four. He'd be a guy that would be that." Players in their first two seasons can be assigned to the development league up to three times per season. If Vujacic is sent down, he will continue to be paid his NBA salary and will still be included on the Lakers' 15-man roster, as one of three players on the inactive list. Vujacic, 21, seemed surprised, even demoralized, at the possibility. "Hopefully I will stay here," he said. "I have bigger goals in my life than to play in the D-League. Hopefully I will have a chance to play for Phil Jackson and his coaching staff." Vujacic, who averaged 2.9 points and 1.5 assists in 35 games last season, has rushed his shots and developed a habit that Jackson noticed in Thursday's loss to the Denver Nuggets. "He was kicking his leg out trying to protect himself a la a Reggie Miller type of thing," Jackson said. "He just didn't have to do that. It was against [Earl] Boykins, who's 5-foot-5. "He's still conscious that he has to hurry his shot and so we're trying to get him to relax a little bit. He's still a young kid that we want to keep nurturing and keep bringing along."</div> Source Sasha is certified garbage.
Lol, I dont blame him. I'd want to be like Reggie any way I could too even if its doing Reggie's moves on guys a foot and half smaller than me. But seroiusly, it'd be good for Sasha's development if he spent some time in the D-League. Now with the D-League Affiliates its like being in High School again theres a Junior Team and a Senior Team, and although your good enough to play both you should play on the one where you'd be getting more time.

He can't shot, he can't pass, he can't defend, he's a liability on both ends of the court. He's taking up a valuable roster spot at this point. The Lakers need to cut him and eat his salary or try to trade him for a future 2nd rounder.
I would not send him to the developmental league the Lakers need all the point guards they can get. Should this be the roster that is in tact when the regular season starts the point guard slot will be run by committee. Everyone will have to do what they can, and hope that their combined performances are enough to help the team get the win each night. Mckie has had a history of injuries the last few years, and Parker is as unproven as Sasha is. Should he go to the D-league I don’t think it will be for long. He will be back with the Lakers sooner for later.

Remember, the Lakers don't need a traditional PG like most teams do. Lamar Odom is going to be the decision maker on the floor and when he's on the bench it will be McKie or Walton (once he's back from injury.) These players are all ahead of Sasha at this point and are capable of playing either guard spot. Smush Parker, Aaron McKie, Devin Green, Laron Profit, Von Wafer, & Tony Bobbitt That just goes to show how bad Sasha is. He's behind every single one of those players on the depth chart.
Poor guy, I've seen clips from his native home, could hit jumpshots without a problem and had good speed, guess the NBA is hard for him to adjust too..

He's not confident in his ability so it leads to mental mistakes. Hopefully spending time in the D-League allows him to regain confidence and work on his defense more. He has to understand being drafted doesn't give him the right to be on the roster, he has to earn it. The fastest way to earn it with PJax is being a beast on defense.
Sasha was a waste of a draft pick. He's just not confident on the court. Maybe he can improve his game in the minors.

Beno Udrih, David Harrison, Anderson Varejao, Jackson Vroman, Donta Smith, Chris Duhon, Justin Reed, Trevor Ariza, even Ha Seung-Jin might have been a better project to work with.

Damn, I think it would've been a wiser decision to go after a PG in the draft and kept Rush as Bryant's back up, but obviously back then they didn't foresee the problems of today..
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting whatthef?:</div><div class="quote_post">Can we send Mitch with him to the Developmental League?</div> yes! that would be great! and then we can sign jerry west to replace him at gm! jk
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Iguodala:</div><div class="quote_post">Sasha was a waste of a draft pick</div>I woulldn't call Sasha a waste of a pick yet. He still has tremendous upside, he just has yet to show it in the NBA. Remember, he's also still young and is still a student of the game by all means. He should be pretty good, but not this year, and maybe not even the next. The Lakers knew he was going to be a project when they drafted him, he just has yet to show all his potential. So, I wouldn't call him a waste of a pick yet.
