They don't have nearly enough accomplishments as the above mentioned players do to earn enough respect to be in the top 12. Same with Wade.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting purehoops:</div><div class="quote_post">I would take Redd over Kenyon Martin, Manu Ginobili, Rasheed Wallace, Antwan Jamison, Zach Randolph, Larry Huges, Rashard Lewis, Mike Bibby moving him up at least 8 spots. Why? A lot of these guys are 2nd, and even 3rd options on the team. The man is a scorer - and number one scorer on a playoff caliabler team. He is only going to get better with a point as valuable as TJ Ford - which in my mind raises his value.</div> Redd is a very talented scorer but is no better than Manu, Kenyon, Rasheed, Jamison, Hughes and Bibby. Why? Because all of those guys are good at more than one thing. Manu can create and score. Kenyon can rebound, play good defense and score. Sheed plays great defense and scores. Jamison rebounds and scores. Hughes scores, is an amazing rebounding SG and plays great D. Bibby scores and is a great creator. What does Redd do besides score? Create for his teammates? certainly not. Play exceptionally poor defense? yup. What I am driving at is that Redd is a one dimensional player who plays no D and isn't that exceptional of a scorer, averaging 20 last year as the number 1 option. He is good, not great. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting TheAnswer2:</div><div class="quote_post">The first 4 picks are somewhat accurate, but you go way off the loop with Amare and Lebron better than Ray, McGrady, Dirk and Iverson when they've only been in the league for a few years. The fact is that LBJ did last year with his 27/7/7 what 4 other players in history have done. McGrady never did that. Allen never did that. Dirk is a great offensive player but while their offensive productions are somewhat comparable (not really but...) their defensive games aren't. James is no Ron Artest defensivley but he is a hell of a lot better than Dirk.

LeBron may put up great numbers, but he has yet to get my respect as a superstar until he makes the playoffs. And since when he a "hell of a lot better" than Dirk on defense?

LBJ gets critisized for not having his defense at the same level as the rest of his game but is still a good defender. Dirk is just a defensive atrocity. He just can't play D.

Hughes and Randolph are also questionable. Bibby is a capable first option, and a very good passer. He's started out slow this year though. Manu is a better all-round player, and defender, I do agree though, that Redd is more of a first option. I would take Randolph who's also a 1st option, if he didn't have other baggage, and played some defense. Hughes also is a better overall player. Better rebounder, passer, defender, but he's not a 1st option, and can't stay healthy. It's arguable with Hughes. Jamison I'd rank right there with Redd. He rebounds better because he's a big man, but he's as good a scorer, and also not much of a defender of playmaker. The difference is that Redd can win you games, he's clutch, and he can hit big shots a lot more consistently. I don't get the Rashard one. He hardly rebounds better than Redd and is 6'10, he's a second option, and he's not even a better scorer. What does he have to be ranked above him?

However - in terms of starting a team - I would take him over all those players - especially Wallace, Jamison, Lewis, Hughes and arguably Mike Bibby. These guys might do things better than Redd - but that is the role they play on the team. With Redd being a first option - I kind of relate him to the Ray Allen. Yes his defense may need work, and other areas - but that comes with time and pressure of being the team leader. However he is there to carry the team, mainly offensively - kind of like Allen Iverson. This is what makes him a player that I would take over these guys because as his role as a leader and a scorer he would lead a team to be a playoff contender. These other players can't be the center piece of a team... like Redd can be. That is what I would base my rankings on...
Here's my top ten: 1. Tim Duncan 2. Kevin Garnett 3. Shaquille O'neal 4. Kobe Bryant 5. Allen Iverson 6. Tracy McGrady 7. Lebron James 8. Dirk Nowitski 9. Jason Kidd 10. Amare Stoudemire
