When the Mavs originally acquired Christie, there were rumors he would be a starter this season. He would replace Michael Finley as the starting shooting guard and would be the player responsible to bring the ball up the court and run the offense.

In the preseason Christie has been starting, but the production from Devin Harris and Marquis Daniels can't be going unnoticed by head coach Avery Johnson.

Should Christie's role as the starting guard be the same, or should the Mavs give the opportunity to their younger players?

    I`m undecided with this.

Marquis Daniels is a great offensive player for the Mavs and he`s defintley capable of the starting positon but Christie may be able to run the offense better and brings some of that good D.

If I were AJ, I would give Daniels the nod the start. Daniels can be come more of a star and great shooter. Bringing Christie off the bench would give some better depth and releif for the team.

I am a huge fan of Doug Christie but I think they should go with the younger guns. These guys are the future of the team and it always helps to have veterans like Christie there to guide them. I guess as long as the Harris and Daniels are getting the majority of the PT then it will work out.

I agree with Soft Parade. THey should start Daniels and make christie come off the bench. Everyone has seen what he is capable of doing, during games. He gave the mavs many important buckets during the playoffs and I think if he starts he wil help the mavs and it wil help him self develop.

I think Christie should start simply because he can set the tempo defensively...he can play 18 minutes a night and they can still play the young guys heavy minutes but Christie would be a welcome perimeter defender in the backcourt, and I think him and Howard starting would be a great combo for fullcourt defense...
