But if Antonio Davis is not released by the Knicks, the Bulls will have a roster spot available and may consider giving it to Holcomb, although the team is also searching for a backup center.

Holcomb?s strong preseason performance has evoked memories of Linton Johnson, a relatively unknown Chicago native who earned a roster spot two years ago. Like Johnson, Holcomb is muscular, athletic forward with a decent jump shot.

His college career ended at the United Center three years ago with an NCAA Tournament loss to Illinois. But Holcomb has made noticeable improvement since then.

?I think I?m still growing, if that makes any sense,? he said following Saturday?s open scrimmage at the United Center. ?I?m 26 years old now, but it still feels like I have a lot of growing to do. I feel like I can improve on different areas of my game.</div>
