Chicago Sports <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">It may be that the Knicks' roster shuffle is starting. Word is that they have been talking to desperate-for-veterans Portland about Malik Rose, who started Saturday night in what seemed to be a showcase. Brown is said to want to go with a youngster, like Channing Frye or David Lee, at power forward. Also, the Knicks continue to talk about not releasing Antonio Davis. The Trail Blazers are eager to make a move. They could be the league's worst team, and veteran Ruben Patterson already is saying: "Management will have to make changes. I'm not pointing fingers, I'm not trying to talk bad, but if we continue to do this, we are going to get beat by 30 every night. We haven't even played good teams yet." Zach Randolph was kicked out of practice, apparently for cursing at new coach Nate McMillan. Asked if it was a lesson from the new coach, Randolph said, "If it was, I didn't get it." McMillan also has been hinting for veteran help.</div> Source
Hopefully one of there PG's gets traded for a veteran no matter where they go heck either one would be better even in NY. Jack and Telfair are both really good but I dont think either will be successful if they both stay in Portland. I hope the Malik Rose deal goes down, he'll probably get some playing time in Portland and he's a veteran so he would help the Blazers squad as well and he's class act guy so the organization could pick up a thing or two from Malik.
First off, I don't like it. The Knicks don't need 4 Centers. You have Jerome James, Curry, and Frye. Then you have a load of PF's that you can use to go small. If they do make the trade, they should trade both a PF, and a Center.
Who would the Knicks be getting in this potential deal? Word is that Isiah has been interested in Theo Ratliff, but by adding him the Knicks must give up at least one center or power forward on their roster. Might the Blazers be interested in Antonio Davis's expiring contract? He doesn't want to be in New York and Portland can waive him. The Blazers get rid of Ratliff's fat contract and Isiah gets who he's always wanted. Great for both sides eh?
Good Idea Locke but I doubt that would happen, the Blazers have no incentive to make the trade then, except acquiring Malik Rose. If there going to give up one of there few veterans for just another veteran and waive the useful veteran they get, it seems useless to me. I just hope Isiah makes a good deal like the one where he got rid of Tim Thomas.
i just think this deal is questionable because the blazers are a lot more about what nash wants over what mcmillan wants. He has been following the danny ainge youth philosophy these past years and i can't see him giving up one of his young studs for veteran help. Miles and patterson are options because they open up playing time for youngsters, but i don't think anyone is gonna take randolph's contract.
