JBB Logo = KG, and if ther was an nba logo change at all, I think it shouldn't be a person, but a move towards a neutral figure liek a basketball, a hoop, the net, something. As for the comment on the male caucasian shooter, I don't see any race implied. Am I misisng something?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting The Soft Parade:</div><div class="quote_post">I think the logo is fine as it is and shouldn`t be changed.</div> Agreed, it was going to be cahnged to KG, or Tim, or Jordan, there would be a lot of arguement. People would say I want the logo to be Duncan instead of KG. I think the logo looks nice and shouldn't be changed.
They should make it like the unofficial (I think it is anyway) all-star logo. The star with the silhouette of J-Rich (I think) putting the ball through his legs. It looks more interesting than the current one, but less traditional.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting nkwu:</div><div class="quote_post">As for the comment on the male caucasian shooter, I don't see any race implied. Am I misisng something?</div> You missed my point. Race is not implied, it is a fact. Everyone knows that Jerry West is the logo. My point was simply that his style of play is no longer valued, so why should he represent the league? Nothing against the white male, simply saying that it doesn't make sense for a minority to rep the majority. No disrespect to West either, I just wanted to see what people thought.

He just happens to represent the image that Stern is trying to move away from. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Jurassic:</div><div class="quote_post">You missed my point. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting dallasdude:</div><div class="quote_post">Having West in the logo is a good choice. Just wanted to know who else was considered for it. But, in my opinion(like the answer), the whole issue of race, is just grasping at straws(unless of course, there's something I don't know about the voting process, and what occured when the logo was decided upon) As for the logo, I still think the logo should be a netural logo. If it were ever to change(which I do not foresee), I think it is way to subjective, and too political to do anything with a person representing the face of an organization, unless it is a clear cut, unanimous decision. I have no problem with it being the silhouette of a neutral person, but I don't think a silhouette of a marquee player's signature move, such as a vc-arm-in-rim-dunk, something of the such is inappropriate.
I guess its widely known that its Jerry West but I heard that the NBA didn't officially say that it was.
Just a thought. Imagine if the signature Jordan logo was never created for Nike, do you think the MJ logo would make a good logo for the NBA?
