link:http://www.justbball.com/forums/showthread...4595#post534595 it says that the bulls exercised hinrich's player option. i dont exactly know what it means, but i think that that means he wont be avalible in the 2007 off season for the lakers. if that is true, then who is left? chris bosh? i see no reason why he wont get signed to long term by the raps.
I bet Lakers have plans they aren't really "sharing" with the public. I bet, a huge Laker deal is going to take place the next one or two years

Saying this, what team doesn't have plans to try to aquire an All Star? I think we probably have a better chance then most because of our name, Dr Buss, our management and hopefully we will also be a regular playoff team.
i love how the lakers think just because they are the lakers that all these players will come to them, they never had a shot at hinrich, amare, or yao all those players will get taken care of as restrictive free agents... amare and yao already have. Bosh might have a shot to go to the lakers but the raptors can offer him much more and have already put him as their franchise player. It's not as easy as it used to be to get people like shaq to leave their teams for nothing and go to the lakers.
By exercising Hinrich's option, he will become a restricted free agent in 2007, barring a contract extension next summer. It was a no-brainer for the Bulls and any promising young player on a rookie contract will get that option picked up.

We know that we have a better chance of recieving a player then any other team in a similar position to us because we are the Lakers. Also, how do you know that we weren't close to signing any of the players mentioned? Just because the media didn't mention it, it doesn't mean that we weren't close to signing them. I'm not saying we were close, but that nobody actually knows what is going on behind the scenes.

They will look at that and figure that they (meaning the all-star) are the missing piece and they will be the one to take them all the way **cough cough KG cough***

The Lakers are similar to the Knicks, in that there are players that would be willing to join the team simply for the history and spotlight that they will be apart of. In that respect, L.A. definitely has an advantage when trying to sign players, over small-market teams. However, I never really felt that these Amare and Yao rumours had any truth to them. The Lakers can pry a superstar away from a team, but they have to wait for that player to want a new location first, like Shaq did. There really was no point in the Amare and Yao rumours unless either of them decided they didn't want to return to their team.

Don't take everything you read litterally. This should also be said when you read newspapers or listen to the little reporter on the TV.

Laker history? if anything a player looking to join a team that has history, they'd go to the celtics. The celtics have the most cherished history in the league 16 championships. the lakers only have a real history based around centers, as a selling point to other centers.

The Celtics definitely have more history as a franchise, but aren't as big a city or marketplace as New York or L.A. When you add all of the factors together, L.A. still ends up with a noticeable advantage in signing free agents.

Which is why i was saying before that i can't see them getting a player like amare or yao or bosh. I think there best chance is at second level free agents like nene or wallace, i consider wallace second level cause his age is getting up there. I'm very interested to see how the lakers rebuild.

Sure we don't have as many championships as the Celtics, but we are extremly close. By saying we also have had no stars play for us apart from centres is stupid. I guess you consider Magic Johnson etc.. average players. We probably have had the most stars play for us then the Celtics. I'm not going to turn this into a Lakers-Celtics thing, but honestly dude, saying we have no history apart from Centres means you suck. Seriously, look ahead of your hate and you will realise we have produced better things then just centres.
Yeah Celtics have history, but c'mon the lakers probably had the best players in the game.. Mikan, Wilt, West, Magic, Jabbar, Worthy, Shaq, Kobe. Plus LA looks better over Boston is because of the weather and the hot women. It's the truth.
