<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) -- Less than four months after undergoing open heart surgery, former Gonzaga standout Ronny Turiaf took part in the school's annual Kraziness in the Kennel scrimmage.

The 6-foot-10 Turiaf, the West Coast Conference's player of the year last season, was a second-round draft pick by the Los Angeles Lakers. Turiaf has been rehabilitating in Spokane after the Lakers voided his contract but retained their rights after learning of his heart condition.

"It's been neat watching him run up and down, banging our guys [at practice] and playing with a lot of enthusiasm," Gonzaga coach Mark Few was quoted as telling The Spokesman-Review.

Turiaf wore a protective pad over his chest to shield his incision following surgery to repair an enlarged aortic root, but said he feels fine.

"If I didn't, I wouldn't be out there," he said. "It just feels great to be back out there with my guys. I've been able to go about an hour and a half everyday since I was cleared."</div>

I hope he can return for us sometime this season. I would love to see him with his hustle type play in a Laker jersey. I personally believe he can be a key component in our success.

Wow, scrimmaging already, great news. He must have medical clearance to full contact workouts. I don't want him to rush back, but he'll be a great addition if he can play in the second half of the season.
