<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">It may or may not turn out to be money well spent, but the five-year, $29 million contract the Nuggets forked over to acquire free-agent guard Earl Watson probably won't show much in the way of an early return this season.

With Andre Miller entrenched as the starter and Earl Boykins now re-established as the backup, Watson is going to be used primarily as a defensive specialist, coach George Karl said Monday.

"Earl's a very good basketball player, (but) it's just playing time," Karl said. "How much playing time do you have for three (point) guards? It's very hard. You've got 48 minutes, and I think Andre's got to be on the court for at least 30 of those minutes and Earl (Boykins), last year, was as good a bench player as there was in basketball. So how I figure that out, I think every game's going to have a different pulse to it." </div>

I think having 3 quality pgs in the rotation will help win more games, as Karl will have a fresh guy to go to at any time. I'd like to see the Nuggets get a nice and comfortable playoff spot, instead of fighting for eighth.

This is a good thing, having more than enough PG's but there will always be someone upset with playing time. Watson is amazing on defense like mentioned and Andre is a lock for starter and well Boykins is Boykins he's just great, so each of them is going to have to battle for minutes but at the end of the day I think Andre will be starting.

Miller will get his 30 minutes a game and It will be interesting what happens with Boykins and Watson. Watson is a very underrated PG and to me the best defensively point guard in the NBA. So the Nuggets may end up using Earl just to try and lock down or contend the top point guards so who knows you may see Watson and Miller on the floor togeather in 4th quarter of games.

I get the feeling Watson wont be a Nugget for more than, maybe, 2 years...that signing did not make a whole lotta sense to me...I would have rather seen them acquire a shooter like Casey Jacobsen, who provides something they (still) need...But assuming Miller plays 32 minutes a night, and Boykins sees the remaining 16 (plus a few at 2-guard), where does in fact Watson fit in? Boykins and Watson are each no taller than 6'0", so they can be exposed defensively if either one are playing the 2 spot...it'll be interesting to see how this ends up shaping up...
