What draft strategy do you guys use when building a Fantasy Football team? I know there are several schools of thought...

Some people go for Running Backs the first two or three rounds and then build the rest of their team on the strength of the running game.

Some people always take the best player on the board, regardless of whether or not it's a receiver, running back, tight end or QB.

Some people take Defenses and Kickers early just to be the best at those positions, sometimes at the expense of the depth of their reserves.

Some people go for rookies and/or sleepers with their last two picks just to try for "upside."

What tricks or strategies do you guys use? Any you'd care to share?

    I draft for value.

Usually I go RB and RB in the first two rounds but if Randy Moss falls to me in the late 2nd round and there are 2 or 3 backs left I like then I'll take Moss. Same with Manning. If he is there at pick #10 then I'll probably take him. Of course that is rare to happen. My normal draft stargedy is to go

    Round 1 RB
    Round 2 RB
Round 3 WR/QB(Again value pick. If I can get Culpepper then yea)
    Round 4 WR
Round 5 QB/WR(depends how many WR's you start)
Round 6 QB(I like back to back QB picks a lot. So I can get a guy like Brady and then Palmer right away)
    Round 7 WR/QB (same as 5)
    Round 8 DEF/TE (Again value)

Pretty much I base everything off of value and how the draft goes. Going RB RB WR WR and QB is a very easy way to build a Playoff team. I've only missed the playoffs oucne. I took Moss with my first pick then. I probably would of made the playoffs but both him and Roy Williams got hurt and that killed me. Other than that my techniques have worked everytime.

i usally try to go for players that are holding out or coming back from a injury that i know will have a big year because people drop them on their lists. Like i have Gates, Bubba Franks, and Hines Ward who were holding out. I also pick Fred Taylor and Stephen Davis that are coming back from injury and look amazing

yea idk about Fred Taylor and Davis though they came back from injury they've been injury prone alllll their careers. Someone such as Duece McAllister is a RB that people will drop because of his season last year. But hes gonna have a great season this year because hes back and better from injury. Hes a better pick that people will drop on their boards more than usual. They wont drop him a lot but after coming off his 2003 season people were all over him in 2004, not as much this year

RB MUST be highly valued high in order to succeed in your draft. So taking 2 RBs early is drafting for value. After that I try to avoid runs on a particular position. So for example if 4 WRs get taken ahead of me then I'm gonna look at QB & vice versa. I try to use the schedule to see what players compliment my starters best. Like for instance Dillon has week 7 off & my 2nd RB Portis is playing SF that week.

This is my interpretation (first time using it so don't throw rocks at me) if good RBs are taken and you have crappy ones just look for Vick and he will rack up some yards.

Are you serious?? or is this a Vick bashing statement?

If so that would be a HUGE mistake.

    1. He'll lack Rushing TD's anyways
    2. You'll have to start him at QB.
    3. He's a backup at best.
    4. He's way to inconsistent of a fantasy player. Sometimes 24 points sometimes 4 points.

Also I tend to shy away from players who have just changed teams. Usually takes them awhile to adjust to a new scheme & surrounding cast. And I always favor youth over aging veterans.
