<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">he Milwaukee Bucks continued to aggressively reshape their roster Wednesday by beating out several teams to acquire New Orleans/Oklahoma City center Jamaal Magloire, according to NBA front-office sources. In a trade that will be announced later Wednesday, Milwaukee has agreed to send swingman Desmond Mason, its 2006 first-round pick and cash considerations to the Hornets for Magloire, an East All-Star in 2004. The Bucks, according to sources, felt they needed a more physical presence on their front line to aid the development of No. 1 overall pick Andrew Bogut and the recently re-signed Dan Gadzuric. Given Milwaukee's logjam of swingmen after retaining Michael Redd, trading for Jiri Welsch and signing Bobby Simmons, a trade involving Mason between now and the February deadline was somewhat inevitable. This one gives the Bucks an opportunity to play Magloire and Bogut together, with Simmons starting at the other forward spot. The Bucks also have Gadzuric and Joe Smith in what suddenly looks like a well-rounded frontcourt rotation. The Hornets have been shopping Magloire for months as part of their own makeover, which accelerated in February when Baron Davis, another former All-Star, was dealt to Golden State.</div> Source
Magloire is very overrated. Mason is one of the most underrated players in the NBA today, plus a first round pick? Paul/Smith/Mason will bring alot of excitement, and if Lampe steps his game up Paul/Smith/Mason/Lampe/Brown Not bad. Bucks just created a center problem now, benching Bogut will bring his confidence down. The guy is a career 9 and 7 player, who isn't a serious shot blocker, only 1 a ame, career 48 % FG shooter, Kurt Thomas has better offense than him, and isn't great at anything, just a good rebounder really. Mason is one of the best atheletes in the NBA, and came off averaging 17 points playing next to a major ball hog named Micheal Redd. Mason is also a very good defender, their best perimeter defender next to Mauirce Williams, and is a perfect 3rd scoring option for any team. Mason will elevate his game up now, playing next to two young perimeter guys, and plus New Orleans got a first rounder, knowing the Bucks will suck, thats a positive thing. Hornets win this deal, Magloire has been one of the best most overrated guys in the last couple of years, he only made the all star team because the East lack centers badly at that time.
Desmond Mason will be great for the Hornets not only because he fits great in that run and gun style but he will also draw people to come out and support the team. Not to metion that the Hornets (a team clearly going no where this season) gets a first round pick that looks to be between 15-25 depending on where the Bucks finish. Great deal for both teams but I love it from the Hornets view...
I dont understand it from the Hornets view...whos gonna play center for them now? They're stacked at the swingman spot with Smith, Nachbar, and now Mason...Great move for Milwaukee...it gives them a veteran post presence and allows more time for Bogut to develop...
WTF??? Why would the Bucks trade DMase. Like you all were saying Mason is very underrated while Magloire is very overrated, and Mason will feel right at home in the run n' gun offense. But the Hornets have some young big men, so they might give them a chance, because the have nothing to lose.
yea this was pretty good for both teams, this gives the hornets even more explosiveness in their backcourt, and the bucks needed a better big man.But now the hornets dont have a good big man,but they are still gettin better and they will get one sometime.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I dont understand it from the Hornets view...whos gonna play center for them now?</div> I'm guessing PJ Brown, they'll do fine. Won't do any better or worse than they would have anyway in my opinion.

Mason for Magloire is fair to me (I think Mason is better but Magloire is a C so higher value) but the added first round pick really give the Hornets the better end of the deal.
