After having done a little bit more research, I see that my former favorite DL team, the Charleston LowGators, has folded, and that the Florida Flame (based out of Fort Myers, ironically) is our affiliate. The current coach of the Flame, former NBA'er, and particularly caustic basketball mind Jeff Malone, will be leading the charge this season. That being said, I cannot think of a better person to lead our latest strong possibility for NBDL greatness, that of Gerald Green. Malone's game, back in the day, was that of a strong shooting, take it to the basket, hard-charging, tough, defensive strategist, and I think that matches Green's needs to a T. I know Green would really only be there to learn plays, catch on to some defensive sets, and get help with his touch and offense, but he could learn a lot from this guy. Having just now seen that Malone's clubs have led the DL in team defense the last two seasons, I am encouraged. Clearly, the youngsters are in good hands. I can't think of one better man to lead the team. And not only that, but by looking at examples of Malone in the past twenty years... <font size=""5"">Before:</font> [IMGL]http://www.justbball.com/images2/JMaloneJazz_165x250.jpg[/IMGL] <font size=""5"">After:</font> [IMGL]http://www.justbball.com/images2/jeff_malone_140x220.jpg[/IMGL] Maybe Green could teach him how to eat properly.
Is this the same Jeff Malone? Former 76er? If so, that will help the C's out a lot. I've heard that he as a great teacher and is very tough, so he probably can get through the head of young guys because we know how stubborn and hard headed most of them are when they first enter the league. Btw, looks like he has gotten a lot thinner. Good to see that he kept his NBA form.

Those cooky mobsters. But yeah, that's the same one. Guy was a heckuva player, and so far has made a heckuva coach. I mean, he's no Alex English (if you ever got to the watch that "Life in the D-League" TV show, you know why that's so funny), but he'll do. I love that his main focus is the defensive game, he will be a real asset for a guy like Green, should it come to that.
Actually, since Green needs to bulk up a little...I can't think of a better candidate to teach him how it's done.
