Did anyone hear the commentators saying Baron took the whole summer off then was hoping for pre season to get into game shape? What happened to Baron's comments at the end of last season that everyone better be here working out over the summer?

Monty needs to grow some sac and bench this guy. The way he played tonite did not warrant this much playing time. We were getting killed on the boards

    He had 5 steals though...

Why didn't Ellis play at all? I would rather see him play than Zarko...

i got soooooo sick of fisher tonight. would have liked to see monta play too. it was a close game, if we could have pulled down a couple more boards we could have won it...would have been nice to come out with a W though, but oh well. there's always next wednesday.

Boy did we need Ike tonight. I'm praying that he plays in the opener because we have no rebounding.

btw: Ray Young should be tarred and feathered. He sucked in summer league, sucked in preseason and broke Diogu's finger. He absolutely served no purpose.

Taft looked good down low. He had a nice little jump hook...

Yeah, we really could use Diogu, or at least see how good he can be in NBA. That was a tough, tough break for us, since we really can use rebounding, low post scoring and defense desperately. At least, he won't miss much of regular season, if any, and rebounding is something you can just go in and do without knowing team play and stuff...

Yeah, he wasn't as super athlatic as I hope to be, but he seems to have a very good body, especially lower end. If he can work his butt off, he can be a major talent in NBA. Of course, that's big if, but we can only hope...

    My impression after preseasons...

`Davis is the man in Warriors. There is a reason why we look good in first quarter and look horrible in second quarter.

`After bit shaky end in last season, he seems to adjust very well in 2nd option. He seems to improve his dribble a bit as well. His importance in this club shouldn't be underestimated.

`Flip the coin and see which Dunleavy will show up. In one night, he is capable of dropping 30 pts and in another night, he is capable of dropping 30 missed shots.

`I can see the effort in Murphy. He tries and tries to play inside with mixed record, and that's probably why his shooting % has dropped in preseason. But, if Diogu becomes a reliable inside presence, Murphy shouldn't go inside. Instead, he should master his midrange jumper. Without Murphy, our rebounding is downright pathatic.

`Foyle! Come back! With him, our defense and rebounding looks half way decent. Without him, UGH... I have to say he is 3rd most important Warrior.

`Uh... Yes Fisher, we understand that you want to be agressive. But, if being agressive means that you want to mimic Iverson, no thank you. How about running the team once in a while, instead of trying to penetrate and throw up impossible shots that only Jamison can make? Look around. There are 4 other people that wears same jersey. They are called 'teammates', and you can 'pass' to them. Stick with catch and shoot.

`Even if I am bigger Pietrus fan than Dunleavy, if I have to make a decision on either guys right now, I have to say Dunleavy. But, I will give him a benefit of doubt for now, because he played in euro league, and he was worse than previous years.

`Zarko had a chance to grap last spot of 9th man rotation and blew it completely. Diogu! Come back!

`In other hand, Biedrins became reliable back up center. He can't impact the game yet, but he is giving a servicable mins out there in both offense and rebounding.

`Miles played well, and I believe he will stick around.

`Taft is raw, but with his size alone, he should get some mins.

`Well, we didn't see much from Monta, but after all, he is still a high school kid.

`Cheaney looked pretty good in given mins...

You pretty much nailed the players for the pre-season but the gameplan has been downright atrocious. Coming into camp, the gameplan is to run and play better defense. We have lost total focus and what kind of offense are we running? It's crazy watching this. Phoenix didn't run many plays either but they spaced the floor excellently, we didn't. Monty has no control over this team. Last year when we did play smart basketball it was because of Baron's intensity and getting in people's faces, Monty just stood alone with his clipboard.

I'm praying that the staff doesn't really care about the pre-season and are just trying new things. If this is the product that's on the floor this year forget it, another high lottery selection. Just let Baron run the show.

[IMG] in that case..good luck Fish! Otherwise,I'm trying to be optimistic that Fish is tuning up to sink a few game-winners and will otherwise act like a PG,and if not-Miles will do the job.

Relax guys its only preseason. It's really not that bad, if Foyle was starting, we'd win by a landslide.

Preseason fellas, preseason, fellas. The team and the coaching staff are just trying to experiment, but I totally understand the concern. I worry about our defense and what are weaknesses are (inside scoring and of course defense) all the time. I am what Wtwalker77 considers as a chicken little. The sky is falling! The sky is falling! But yeah that's me.

Totally agreed. Monty has no idea what he's doing out there, he wants to run this half-court offense but it fails almost every time. When the team just plays off of Baron we are much more likely to win. Monty hasnt improved the team at all defensively, even if our personel arent great defenders there should be some improvement in team defense etc. The second unit is absolutely horrible, you would think Monty would have a leash on Fisher but he doesnt even get in Fisher's face when he doesnt pass the ball.

His rotation looks a little better this year, the one lineup I didnt like was the one we used to close the game yesterday (Baron, Fisher, Rich, Dun, Murphy). I dont care how "clutch" Fisher is, he doesnt need to play the entire fourth quarter, we need to put in a center so we wont get raped on the boards and alter some shots. Fisher really has no purpose being there when he is forcing everyone below him to play out of their position. Our defense is horrible without Biedrins or Foyle scaring guys out of the lane.

    Just preseason

I really wanted a win before going into the season but what can I do. Over all I saw some things that was worked on and still needed help with. here is my thoughts on the warriors and its starting five.

Rebounding and Defense - still need a lot of help there. without foyle there to help murphy it was a horrible nite on the boards. bienz did good and shows that he can play, wasn't afraid to take a couple of shots, and is still a good presence to make people change their shots in the middle.

Davis - when healthy watch out. he definitly brings the goods and makes everyone better. as time goes on and he gets his legs under him he's going to break ankles and just make life horrible for other pg's. he just needs to stay healty.

Richardson - looks good. showing improvement again. hes somewhat improved on his dribbling skills but still needs to read double teams, his shot seems more fluid, and is taking it to the rim more often.

Murphy - those games he missed shows. he's shown that he can make the 3's but will need to be in game shape to do it. he has shown to be a bit more aggressive in the low post but still looks uncomfortable but i think with time he'll get used to it. last nite was a good indication that he's been working in the off season and trying to be a banger on the inside also. still works hard for rebounds and still slow on defense but should still put up double doubles.

Mike Jr. - which one shows up. i think he should play out this year for his money. if hes asking for 50 mill., he's not consistent for that money. he's still jekyll and hyde. his game to me still looks the same. no real change other than he cuts to the rim more and is willing to take it to the hole. other than that...same Dun Dun as last year.

Foyle - came into this season looking like hes in great shape but we'll see. his timing on blocking shots seem to have gotten better. willing to bang down low. just need him to grab boards and shot blocking. other than that he's still a decent C. look for him to be a smidge better than last year.

can't wait till the season starts. got my season tickets, my beer money, and now let the fun begin.

I didn't hear that, but regardless, it's not true. There were a lot of articles this summer about Baron's workouts. He's dropped about 10 lbs. from what he weighed last year and his back and legs are as healthy as they've been since he came into the league.

This is true, but you aren't the littlest chicken on this board. The first step is admitting it. The next step is sitting back and enjoying the ride, good or bad. Remember, it's just a game, you're supposed to watch it because it's fun.

even tho it's only preseason I've gone from optimistic to cautiously optimistic. It's just the vibe I get from watching this team. Monty really needs to limit the threes being thrown up. He needs to talk to BDiddy, Murph, and Fish about shot selection. I'm just not sure he has the clout or the moxie to do this. Fish and Murph should both be shooting a lot less on this team. He's giving Fish waaaay too much respect. 5 steals is nice but his decision making was once again terrible, so many times you can tell he is just so determined to shoot it. It's like he wants to avg 20 points/game or something. Someone needs to tell him he got where he is because of Shaq. Brian shaw and Horry hit just as many or prolly more clutch shots than he did. It's hard for me to have any faith in MOnty. We had most our starters in against the Suns reserves at the end of the game and we lost. That's not the kind of momentum to head into the preseason with and also they were saying how BD had a little hamstring problem. He definitely did not look as explosive, he shoulda just rested. If Fish gets more than 25 mins a game we are in real trouble. He's great at starting fast breaks for the other team and becoming a catalyst for runs yet Monty still plays him.
