The NBAs Best and Worst Gaurd Tandems <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Best guard combos ... 3. Ray Allen-Luke Ridnour (Seattle): Like John Wesley Harding, Ridnour rarely makes a foolish move. He's the perfect facilitator, the Sonics' on-court surrogate coach. Allen is a scorer extraordinaire — from outside, inside, and always in the clutch. Neither is an exceptional defender. ...</div> Calling Ridnour the on court surrogate coach is huge praise. It's really fun to watch as the world starts to rekonize da skillz. I think we may have ourselves a top 5 point gaurd for the next 7 or so years. Everyone already knew Allen was the shizz.
Luke still has a fair bit to learn, and consistency is his main problem, but he does have all the makings of an elite point guard down the tracks. Props to management and the coaching staff for giving him the chance to learn the position properly and make his own mistakes, and he has shown plenty in only two years as a pro (and only one with proper minutes). We're rebuilding the right way, without bottoming out.

I think it is a bit presumptious to put Luke and Ray as the third best guard tandem when Luke was a part time player last year. They definitely deserve to be on the list but third in the league is stretching it. Personally I would have liked to see a tandem with Kobe on it, considering that Kobe may indeed be the best player in the league. I don't know, maybe Iverson and Iguodala (if he is listed as a guard) could have gotten some recognition? Nash and Bell? Bibby and Bonzi? Hinrich and Gordon? Davis and Richardson? Tinsley and Jackson? There are a ton of marginal guard tandem's in this league that are probably overhyped. Outside of the Pistons and Spurs no team has a real formiddable backcourt combination. Besides you don't win in this league relying totally on guard play. I'm hopeful that the combination of Luke, Ray, and Flip will serve as the most productive backcourt in the league this season. With our mess of a combination in our frontcourt, we are going to need Luke and Flip to both have career years for us to repeat as Northwest Division Champions.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Sir Desmond:</div><div class="quote_post">That was a Rosen article? I hate him.</div> Ya I'm not a big fan either but this is one of those times you just disregard who wrote it. Shiek, he did the frontcourt as well, and suprisingly he didn't even consider us a runner up for the worst frontcourt starters. I think maybe because Shard makes up for some of Reggies offensive woes and Reg does the same for Shards defensive lapses. We have a four headed center that will at least be servicable. I think third was about right for Ray and Ridnour.
