No, the point guard didn't inflict any damage in Boozer's left leg. But McLeod's attempts to hurry back from his own hamstring injury a year ago, perhaps doing too much too soon, is a cautionary tale for the Jazz's power forward.
"It can kind of fool you a little bit. [Last year,] Keith felt great, had a great practice, and made it worse," Boozer said. "We definitely don't want that to happen."
It already is. Boozer "tweaked" the sore hamstring at practice again Monday, the Jazz announced, making it all but certain that the team's highest paid player, who last appeared in an NBA uniform on Feb. 14, will open the 2005-06 season in street clothes.
Monday's practice was Boozer's first since Oct. 8, when he first felt pain in his left leg. He missed the entire preseason, and even before the latest setback, had sounded cautious about suiting up for Wednesday's opener against Dallas.
"It's getting better, and that's a positive sign," he said. "But let's see how it feels. We'll have a shootaround Wednesday morning, I'll test it then, and we'll go from there."</div>
