    They look kind of similar.

Foxsports is picking up on Yi only now?

I've heard about Yi Jianlian since he was 16 and I saw him playing for China this past summer. JBB's Mock Draft currently has him going 3rd in the 2007 draft.

    http://www.justbball.com/forums/showthread...9745#post519745

Check out the thread for my analysis on Yi's game as well.

I don't think it's fair to tag him as the next Yao, as Yi is much more athletic than Yao. They're different players.

Yi is going to be insane. Right now, he's comparable to Dirk or Duncan at the age of eighteen and whats more is that he moves pretty smoothly for a guy at above seven foot. I've heard about him two years ago when I was over in China, and boy were the people there raving about him. Supposedly he's got range just like any international player but can also pound it inside. Trip's right, he's not the next Yao. If you'd like to compare him to someone, think of a slightly more athletic Duncan. You guys will be hearing a lot more about him in the coming years. Remember the name Yi JianLian.

The only problem with his draft is that his age is somewhat a mystery like Mutumbo's and scouts don't really know when he was born. The Chinese government is trying to hold back draftees because of the Wang Zhi Zhi incident.

It will be fun watching this guy play in the NBA seeing how well he stands up and adapts to the NBA's size and skill. I would really love to see Kobe dunk on him though. =)

So has the Chinese Basketball Association made that a rule now that you can only declare for the NBA draft at 22? market, could you maybe give me a link to a website with some information on that? I'm okay with Chinese articles, because this is pretty important information. A whole lot of mock draft sites are going to have to change their mocks for 2007.

Jesus Christ, China is practically denying a player "greatness". I don't even understand the point of this besides the fact that the player could turn out to be a bust and stay four years in the US and then come back. I mean, making a player stay longer in China won't make him feel any more patriotic to the country. In fact, if anything this will make him angry at the country for keeping him away from the NBA.

Really it isn't a stupid question. It was in 2002,Dallas didnt give wang a extend
contract. In order to improve himself and get another job, wang chose to stay in America to participate in the summer game. But the summer game was confilict with the Asia Games(I dont know whether it should be tanslated like this). The CBA required wang to come back and paly for our national team. This meant that wang should give up playing in the summer game. And wang was a soldier ,the notion that a soldier should devote all himself to his nation was very commom in china. But wang didnt follow this notion,he didnt come back, then wang was kicked out of our national team.
Thing should not turn to be such a big case if china win the champion as usual,in the final,Korea defeated china by 3 point shooting rain when china lead 15 in the 4th quater.china's lost cause great indignation all over the country, wang was considered to be the main reason for the failure.
In order to prevent such thing from happening again ,CBA made such siily decision that didnt do any good to the developing of chinese basketball.

all these are wrote by myself, there must be many silly mistakes for my poor english, just take a few more minutes to read.[IMG]

A team can draft a player and keep his rights until after he finishes playing under contract for another league, if the young guy is good he may be taken in the next 2 to 3 years. I have never seen or heard of the guy though. Of course I didnt know who Yao was until a year before Houston took him.

Wang Zhizhi defected from China that year, and hasn't had to give that government a chunk of his contract money anymore. Yao will continue to be well paid but a good piece still goes to the Chinese Government.
Think about the uproar the NBA would have had to face if their minimum age tried to be changed to 22.

no,he is jobless now.he was the best pf in china that time(now YiJianlian is),but because of his poor defensive ability,he can't stand in the NBA.

This guy looks like the Chinese version of Bosh... Same body build (tall and lanky), athletic, and looks like he can throw some pretty nice dunks.
