<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">OKLAHOMA CITY (Ticker) -- The displaced New Orleans Hornets looked pretty comfortable in their new home. P.J. Brown scored 20 points and J.R. Smith added 19 as the Hornets opened the season with a resounding 93-67 victory over the Sacramento Kings. Due to the destruction caused by Hurricane Katrina, the Hornets will play 35 of their 41 games at the Ford Center, with the other six in Baton Rouge. The first regular season game played in Oklahoma City was preceded by a lengthy ceremony that included an introduction speech from Mayor Mick Cornett and Hornets owner George Shinn. Former King Wayman Tisdale, who played collegiately at Oklahoma, performed the national anthem and the crowd remained on its feet until the Hornets made their first basket, a layup by Brown three minutes into the game. The fans had plenty of reason to cheer for the remainder of the contest. After a back-and-forth opening quarter, Brown scored eight points in a 16-2 run that gave the Hornets a 38-27 advantage with 3:20 left in the first half. The Kings shot just 26 percent (5-of-19) in the second period, which ended with the Hornets holding a 44-33 lead. </div> http://www.nba.com/games/20051101/SACNOK/recap.html
They got destroyed. When I first saw the score i was amazed. I figured one of the NO players scored like 50 points or something.
So, how exactly did this happen. I didnt see the game but what stuck out to me the most was the Kings shooting %, 31%. Nobody could hit a shot or what?
This is the only game I didn't watch yesterday. I figured, ah it will be a blowout...I just didn't think it would be the Kings that gone blown out...ouch.
Thats really bad I cant believe they lost that bad, I didnt watch that game either not good start at all for the Kings.
Queens play no D <div class="quote_poster">Quoting GiantMidget:</div><div class="quote_post">So, how exactly did this happen. This could be a long season for the Las Vegas Kings.
I didn't watch the game either, but look at the rebounding advantage the Hornets had last night 52-36! The Kings just had a bad shooting night, and the Hornets took advantage of it. The Kings are still in an adjustment period with all the new players on the squad. Adelman is one of the best and figuring out which, rotation plays the best together, the Kings should be fine 10 games into the season. Brad Miller needs a lot more than 5 FGA in a game. Great win for the Hornets, and as always I take pleasure in the Kings losing because it helps the Lakers.
You just cannot win with Shareef on the team, i guess No pun intended. I watched a bit of the game on league pass and the team is a far cry from the team from the past few years. No leadership on the court, Bibby struggling and an inconsistent bench. I have a feeling it maybe a long season for them.
The Kings will be fine. Every team has off nights, they just get blown way out of proportion when it's the first game of the season.
Wow, the Kings sucked yesterday. They got beat bad. I won't really take much from this as it's only one game. I think this is just a one off poor performance. Hopefully it isn't though.
Wow, the Kings lost pretty badly. I saw the halftime score, 44-33 with New Orleans leading, and was pretty suprised. Well anyway good job for Chris Paul and J R Smith and an unbelievable effort from 36 year old veteran PJ Brown. Anyway, if the Kings play like this again today, I will watch in delight and just think about what the Rockets can do to them in our season opener. Oh, and one more thing. They won basically without Desmond Mason, who scored about 1 point. I wonder what's wrong with his attitude?
People overhyped the Kings a little, but this was a definite shocker. Is it me, or has Mike Bibby turned into a wanna be "bad boy".
Till first quarter, Kings had slight advantage. But, in second quarter, Hornets went Paul-Speedy line up, and Speedy completely sliced Kings apart and took the control of the game. Also, unlike promising performance in preseason, Kings bench played horribly. Both teams were very sloppy btw...
I think this game was a just a off-night combined with developing chemistry. The Kings will be fine under Aldeman's offense.
I was very surprised, but the stats show it all. and as peoplesaid, the kings can most definitely bring it together
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting dallasdude:</div><div class="quote_post">You just cannot win with Shareef on the team, i guess No pun intended.</div> If I remember correctly he's the only one that shot well. Blame Bibby and Peja for once.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Jurassic:</div><div class="quote_post">If I remember correctly he's the only one that shot well. Blame Bibby and Peja for once.</div> And last game against Houston as well. It wasn't pretty to watch Peja hitting top of the backboard or Bibby shooting air ball, not to mention 5-24 combined while rest of starters did very well including 22/18 from Bonzi. Also, two straight games in a row, Kings got nothing from the bench...
Get Kenny Thomas some playing time and some touches, if Shareef plays well or not. Let Shareef come off the bench and the team will improve.

Tweeners like Thomas and Corliss are better served as sparkplugs off the bench, not starting.
