Jeff Van Gundy is my favorite choice, but I truly believe George Karl is going to get it this year. Other mentions, Nate McMillan, Phil Jackson, Larry Brown, Greg Popovich etc...........

Ricky is basically the most underrated coach, now with his two best players back @ 100%, and the probably the best player from Europe, I see Pacers winning their divison

I'm thinking Phil Jackson. If the Lakers can get into the playoffs, which they should be, he should get it. Beyond that, they might have a chance at taking the Pacific Division now that Amare is gone dand assuming Sac-town struggles.

Some picks of mine (Not in any order):

    Phil Jackson
    Rick Carisle
    Greg Pop
    SVG

Like Moo2k4 said, if Phil and Kobe can muscle there way into the playoffs and have just a breakout-like season, Phil could take it. But depending on how power house like teams such as San Antonio, Miami, Detroit play out down the road, that could hurt his chances.

I guess a lot of people like Rick Carlisle. As do I. The way he got this team into the playoffs last year with missing Artest for most of the season and O'Neal and Jackson for some time was great. Now that he has them all plus more I can see them doing some special things. Carlisle is great to begin with, doesn't get enough credit.

I'd say Phil Jackson, if the Lakers go to the playoffs. Or George Karl, if Denver goes as far as the WCF.

the awards are based on the regular season so whether or not the Nuggets go to the WCF is irrellevant

Just my opinion, but normally the coach of the year goes to someone who made his team overachieve or exceed expectations. Like last year, how many of you guys predicted Phoenix to be the #1 seed in the West at the beginning of the year? None of you, so he exceeded expectations for the team. So teams like GS, Utah, or Milwaukee if they make the playoffs, their coaches will likely get it. No one expected any of them to go to the playoffs. I like what Carlisle, Popovich, George Karl, and Phil Jackson are doing for their teams, but all of their teams are going to do what they are supposed to, make the playoffs all but Jackson will make it easily, but with the way Kobe is playing they will likely make them. Now if TD, KB, JO, or Kmart get hurt and they still make the playoffs they would get my vote.

I think the Denver Nuggets will have a fantastic year, giving George Karl the coach of the year honors.

I will go out on a limb and say Byron Scott. Yes, the head coach of the Hornets.

He probably will not win it, but just look out for them to do more than what people are expecting.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and go with Flip Saunders in Deee-troit.They're looking pretty good right now.If he leads the Pistons to the playoffs he'll have a good chance.
