The Lakers need a lot of luck this season and after just one day, the top two teams in the Pacific fell in their season openers. The Kings were blown out by the Hornets (67-93) and the Suns blew a lead to the Mavs and lost in double OT in Phoenix (108-111).

I was really really surprised about the Kings game, considering just about every sports analyzer is predicting them to be a contending team...maybe the Kings got over-rated?

We all know the Sun's were missing their big man in Stoudamire, but they we're playing pretty damn well without him as long as Nash was running the offense. I lived in AZ for awhile and was used to always watching Jim Jackson, Joe Johnson, and Q shoot up the 3 pointers, but now that Q and JJ are gone, that part of the game seems to have dimmed down for the Suns.

Does that mean that both teams will play like this all season? Probably not, but I'm hoping too this translates to good luck for our Lakers. [IMG]

Dallas stole that game from the suns. Thats it. As for the kings...while I'm happy they lost that bad I'm not taking it as any sort of indication as to the kind of season they will have. I just hope they don't go 04-05 sonics on us and go win 52 games...

I knew the contendership analysis was way overrated for the Kings, but to get whooped by a emotionally tired team given the present events of their home city, is just sad. Suns somewhat have an excuse of losing their opener, but still they should of beat Dallas' sloppy playing style. If Lakers win this opener with a style that makes them look like the team they were in the Sacramento preseason game, then the outlook on the Lakers year is all the more better.

Day 2 and the Lakers did what every Laker fan wanted, they won their season opener on the road in Denver, to grab a piece of first place.

As a bonus the Kings lost their second consecutive game on the road to the Rockets. Mike Bibby continues to struggle shooting 2-11 last night, on the season he's shooting 5-22. The lack of veteran leadership is really showing itself early on for the Kings. Their next four games don't get any easier either, Phoenix, Detroit, and Denver twice. The Kings could start the season out 0-6.

Both the Warriors and Clippers had come from behind victories. The Warriors errupted in the second half against the Hawks and scored 39 points in the 3rd quarter and 36 in the 4th quarter to win 122-97 in blow out fashion. Pietrus and JRich led the charge, while Warrior fans are still wondering how Dunleavy got paid serious chedder. 7 turnovers against the Hawks isn't the way to earn your new found wealth Jr.

Sam Cassell was "scorching" down the stretch. Anyone still doubt he should be starting over Shaun Livingston yet? Sammy is one of the best closers in the game and took over in the 4th period to finish with 35 points and 11 assists in his Clipper debut.

``Sam is a monster,'' Clippers' coach Mike Dunleavy said. ``That's what he does, he makes big shots.''

And there you have it, but coach should choose his words better because Sammy looks like an alien and most aliens are portrayed as monsters. Classic example of a Freudian slip if I've ever seen one.

After two days of NBA regular season the pretenders are the contenders and the contenders are the pretenders in the Pacific Division.

^ actually last year the kings started 0-3 and 1-4.Still won 50 games amidst all that happened to them also. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I just hope they don't go 04-05 sonics on us and go win 52 games..</div> As if the Kings would be overachieving to win 52 games? What a joke. I understand though, people have to get their shots in on the kings after they lose the first two games of the season. Its understood that there wont be too many opportunities to get in shots on the Kings.
Id be REALLY surprised if the lakers finish the season at or above .500.

First the Queens try to steal our coach, then our team colors, and now they are trying to take our lottery pick. Right now I'll take Smush over Bibby anytime. We probably will finish under .500, but we will have Kobe and still be in LA when the last place Queens move to Las Vegas in '07.

No. I think alot of people are forgetting the Kings are a totally new team and need time to get used of eachother. They have 4 of the same players from 2 years ago. Mike Bibby, Miller, Peja, and Kevin Martin. This team is completely new to eachother and I can guarantee they will finish better than the **** Lagirls.

    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Right now I'll take Smush over Bibby anytime.</div>

Hahahaha. Just because he played better in the first two games of the season, you'll take him over Bibby. You must be stupid. If thats the way it went then players would be judged on how good they are by there most recent game. Silly Lagirls fan you.

Only two teams played last night from the mighty Pacific. The Lakers lost their home opener to the Suns. The Suns broke the game open in the second half when both teams turned to their second units. The Lakers didn't have any answers for Eddie House and Leandro Barbosa. The Lakers stormed back in the second half, and the Suns almost blew another huge lead. With the Lakers one shot away from catching the Suns, James Jones hit a three point dagger to extend the lead to 6. The Lakers charge ended there and they dropped into a tie for third place in the Pacific Standings.

The Lakers next game is at home against Denver. The Lakers won the first showdown in Denver, and a win tomorrow would be great for the team's confidence before they start their 4 game road trip.

The Clippers took sole possession of first place in the Division after blowing out the NBA equivalent of JV high school basketball, the Atlanta Hawks. The Warriors lost a tough game to the Jazz, without B. Diddy in the lineup. The Warriors only managed 13 assists in the game, and committed 14 turnovers. The Warriors joined the Suns and Lakers with 1-1 records.

I'll take it as long as Baorn comes back at 100%. Who would have thought that at any point in the season the Clippers would lead the pacific and the Kings would be in last in the Pacific?

After the weekend the Kings earned their first victory by defeating the Suns at Phoenix. Peja finally got his jumper going, and Mike Bibby played much better than the Kings two previous games. The Suns loss dropped them back to .500, and they are still winless at home. The Clippers moved to 3-0 after beating the TWolves and are still in 1st place. The Lakers and Warriors are tied for second with a 2-1 record. With B. Diddy back, the Warriors took care of the Knicks, and the Lakers blew out the Denver Nuggets by 20 points to earn their first home win of the season.

The Clippers lost their back to back game in Minnesota last night. The TWolves defense showed up in a big way and took away the Clippers rhythm on offense. The Clippers forgot to pass the ball inside and settled for jumpshot after jumpshot. The trio of Cuttino Mobley, Sam Cassell, and Daniel Ewing shot 9 for 32 from the field including 0 for 12 from behind the arc. Lakers can tie them for first place with a win over the Hawks tonight!

The Toronto Raptors started 3-0 last season and finished horribly. I suspect almost the same thing for the Clippers, but maybe not as worse.

Stop comparing the Kings to the Laker girls man, I know the Kings are bad but it's kinda low if they have to compete with the cheerleaders.[IMG] [IMG] Anyway, if the Kings want to make it to the playoffs, they are going to have to start winning more and more games NOW. If they break even or lose more than they win, Bonzi Wells will probably have a hissy fit like he did everywhere else., and then the team goes downhill from there.

As for the clippers, they had easy victories to get that 3-0 start. Toronto had the exact same luck last season when they were 3-0. Wait til the clips take on harder teams.

The Lakers won their second straight game in a row and grabbed a share of first place alongside the Clippers and Warriors. The Lakers dominated the Hawks last night and cruised to a 103-97 victory. Kobe led the way again with 37 points, his fourth straight game scoring 30+. The Warriors got a rare road win last night against the 3-0 Bucks. The Warriors went bananas from the perimeter and hit 13 out of 27 three pointers for a 110-103 victory. The Kings dropped further in the standings losing their home opener to Detroit. The 1-3 Kings still haven't found rhythm in their offense and the starters continue to play inconsistent.

The Pacific division is looking like it could be a lot deeper then most people might have thought, at least so far. THe Lakers are proving that they're capable of winning, and actually beating good teams (Denver). The Clipps are off to a good start, but have yet to convince me that they're for real. They need to knock off a good team before I believe that. And the Warriors need to play consistent and hope Baron stays healthy. They have a good core of players, but if once goes down hurt, they could be in trouble. Also, Dunleavy needs to start producing and show he's worth that $47mil, that way it takes off some of the scoring pressure put on Baron and JRich.

Day 9 was rough for everyone in the Pacific except the Clippers. The ClipShow took sole possession of first place by defeating the Wizards 102-97. Every year the Clippers have started 4-1 they've made the playoffs and they now have a winning record on the road. The Lakers and Warriors are crying foul over their losses. The Lakers didn't get a single FTA in the second half until the final 2 minutes of the game. It resulted in a second half collapse and a tough road loss to the TWolves 74-88. The Warriors were in disbelief about the non-call on Jason Richardson on the final shot of the game. Down by one point, JRich drove hard to the basket and got hammered. No foul was called, and the Bulls pulled off the victory 84-85. The Kings continued their disappointing start to the season, falling to the Nuggets 91-107, the Kings bench failed to show up again and were outscored 12 to 38.
