Lakers lost a heartbreaker to the 76ers last night. So far the road trip has been a frustrating one, after losing two games they were capable of winning. The Lakers dropped to .500 on the year, and are now in third place behind the Clippers and Warriors. The Lakers next game is a biggie in Memphis. They don't want to fall under the .500 mark and head back to LA with a three game losing streak. The Lakers need this game to get some momentum back and ease the frustration mounting for the team. The Warriors pulled out a win against the Knicks, after playing catch up for a majority of the game. The Kings also won in impressive fashion against the disappointing Nuggets. The Kings offense is starting to heat up, they shot 52% last night and got solid production off the bench.

Losing a heartbreaker in Philly? I think they never even got Philly's phone number - even with a faded Webber, Philadelphia is clearly a better team than L.A. defensively and offensively

Yeah leading the entire game until the 4th quarter was just my imagination. Kobe missing a potential game winner, never happened either. [IMG]

I don't actually blame Kobe. Every time he got a touch on the ball he was met by constant booing and 3 Philly players. Even when he passed up to the open man, the player would just stand there and not make a move, hence allowing the defense get back in their positions. No support was given to him and he wasn't allowed to get into any rhythm at all.

phunDamentalz, get outta our threads. Sixers better defensively? Don't make me laugh, even here in PA they are surprised on how well they played defense. And on offense, break it down by position:
    AI is better than Smush
    Kobe is better than Iggi
    Lamar is better than Korver
    Webber is better than Brown
Mihm is better than Dalembert...Samuel's better overall because of his D that Mihm's lacking

Thats 3-2 LA, the Sixers may end up w/ the better record at the end of the season but, HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! they're in the east, which, last time I checked, doesn't have the Spurs, Nuggets, Suns, Mavericks, Warriors, etc. The only threats they have are Detroit, Indiana, and Miami.

That REALLY upset me. I noticed how, like, 3 Lakers would have been wide open if they moved a little bit, but they weren't. Most noticeable were Brown and Cook.

Only one game in the Pacific last night. The Phoenix Suns took care of business at home against the Warriors 101-86. The Suns improved their record to 3-3 and are now tied with the Lakers. It was the Suns first win at home this season.

The Sacramento Kings had the dubious honor of being the first team to lose to the New York Knicks. Once again the Kings bench was dominated and outscored 56 to 16. The Kings are now 2-5 and still in the Pacific Division cellar. The 76ers beat the Clippers last night, the Clipshow ran out of gas on the final game of their road trip. Sam Cassell had a rough night of shooting hitting only 1 of 10 shots. At 5-2 the Clippers are still in first place with a 1 game lead over the Warriors.

The Kings offense came alive against the injury riddled Utah Jazz last night. They stomped the Jazz 119-83 for their third win of the season. The Clippers dominated the Bucks at Staples Center, and remained in 1st place in the Pacific.

Tonight the Lakers will try to avoid a tie for last place with the Kings, by beating the Knicks. The Warriors will host the Bucks, for their second meeting of the season. The Warriors won the first meeting, and the Bucks have not won a West coast game in 17 straight tries on the road. The 3-3 Suns will host he Grizzlies tonight.

Ok so the guys over at SI.com don't think the clippers are anything to worry about (just go read lang whitakers article, I beleive). What do you guys think? They are saying that the Clippers lack depth, and that will ultimately lead to their demise...Personally I don't see it.

Seriously- the Clippers just killed the bucks who to that point were 5-1. I'm getting scared that the Clippers will not only be better than the Lakers, but they will also swoop a decent playoff spot. Please tell me this isn't so.

I'd argue those guys haven't watched the Clippers this season. The Clippers had a better record last season, and they had a better offseason than the Lakers. So I don't see how they can overlook the Clippers. They don't lack depth either, they have Corey Maggette coming off the bench. Daniel Ewing is giving them solid minutes, Singleton has been a nice surprise, and they can count on Wilcox or Rebraca showing up for frontcourt depth. Plus they'll be even deeper once Shaun Livingston returns. This team has the perfect balance of inside-outside offense, and a the right mix of veterans and youth.

Lakers looked pretty good after halftime against the Knicks. Kobe as usual is a monster on offense. Chris Mihm looked involved a bit more, same as Kwame. Odom was doing some good on both sides. I am impressed that the Lakers outrebounded and got more 2nd chance points than the Knicks, which is something the Lakers have always struggled with. Now that Larry and Phil have mediocre teams and the Lakers are about to win, this proves that Larry Brown is not the god of basketball [IMG]

HAHAHA even as a Laker fan I could live with that. It's just frustrating to see the Clippers play this well- I want to see them start losing...badly and repetitively. I really hope they are not this seasons surprise team..

As for this game Clippers up by 6 at the half....Kobe as usual...should take the ball to the whole more.

Im not even watching the game, but I can tell by the gamecast on ESPN.com that he's shooting jumpers.

Lamar and Chris Mihm are having a pretty good night regardless. Kwame is as usual $hitty. He should be on the trading block.

Who....would we get for Kwame? My little sister was looking pretty good today in tryouts- she runs the floor well for a 7th grader and actually has better hands than Kwame-

    Any takers?

The Lakers dropped into a tie for last place losing at home to the other Los Angeles team. The Lakers dropped to 4-5 on the season and to make matters worse Kwame, Mihm, and George are all injured. The Kings won their second straight game and their offense is starting to click. The Warriors and Suns also took care of business and didn't lose any ground to the 1st place Clippers.

With those players injured I'm hoping to see some more playing time for Bynum. Perhaps he will even start... Kwame and Mihm does not contribute much to the team right now, but the fact that they are the best players in their position on the Lakers is not a good sign. A trade would be good but it will probably be pretty hard getting a hold of a good passing big man. Even though the Lakers are not playing *that* bad, I see no way of them getting into the playoffs if the other pacific division teams keep playing the way they are.
