<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Everyone laughed on draft night when Doc Rivers joked that with the selection of high schooler Gerald Green, the Celtics were ready to contend for the 2006 NCAA championship.

Beyond the snickers, though, the Celtics coach is painfully correct. The team drafted a high school player in the first round each of the last three years. The team?s average age is just 23.4.

There will be a lot of undulations in this group.

TONY ALLEN, G, 6-4, 213 ? With a grand jury in Chicago deliberating whether he will be indicted for aggravated battery, and time and rehabilitation governing how well he will rebound from knee surgery, the 23-year-old may be facing a lost season. But even with the arrival of rookies Orien Greene and Ryan Gomes, no youngster can contribute more to Rivers? up-tempo scheme than Allen, who is still one of the most athletic players on this roster.

MARCUS BANKS, PG, 6-0, 200 ? Just when the third-year point guard started to show a flash, once again, of why he can drive the push game like no one else on the team, he went down with a stress fracture. Like Allen, he could be facing a long climb back into the rotation. Greene and probable starter Delonte West appear to have an inside track on most of the point guard minutes right now. Dan Dickau, after a ho-hum camp, also needs to be accounted for. And Banks still drives the coach crazy with poor decisions.

MARK BLOUNT, C, 7-0, 250 ? He wants to make amends for last year, and has put together a decent camp, though he still hasn?t returned to his glass-eating form of two years ago. Has returned to effectiveness as a medium-range jump shooter off the pick-and-pop play, but this still isn?t the guy if you?re looking for scoring under the basket.

RICKY DAVIS, G, 6-7, 195 ? Be it as a starting swingman or sixth man, the land of opportunity has never looked brighter for Davis. Rivers has decided that one or both members of the Davis/Paul Pierce axis must be on the floor at all times, which will produce an increased minutes load. That, of course, is fine with a scorer who never saw a minute of game time he didn?t like. </div>

I mean, yeah, the people who call him the next T-Mac are crazy, but you are even crazier if you think he won't even be good.
