<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">November 2, 2005 -- BOSTON ? With Maurice Taylor likely to miss tonight's opener because of a sprained right knee, it assures that Larry Brown will have to put rookie Channing Frye into a larger role against the Celtics. Taylor's absence also means their other rookie, power forward David Lee, will be on the active roster. Lee was going to be one of three players on the inactive list for tonight, along with center Jackie Butler and Penny Hardaway. "I don't know what his situation will be," Brown said yesterday of Taylor. "It doesn't look good right now. He hurt it [Monday], got some swelling." Antonio Davis is expected to start at power forward. Frye has badly outplayed veteran Malik Rose during training camp and should be the first power forward off the bench. However, Brown keeps hinting the young kids won't play much until December. Frye averaged 10.4 points in 19 minutes per game in preseason. The 6-11 Frye, whom Brown classified as a power forward early in camp, shot 50.8 percent from the field, grabbing 4.3 rebounds. Brown still would not reveal his starting lineup, but Eddy Curry, Davis, Stephon Marbury and Jamal Crawford appear locks. The question is small forward, and it's a huge dilemma considering Boston's best player is veteran Paul Pierce on an otherwise young, rebuilding club that is not expected to make the playoffs. With Quentin Richardson still not 100 percent because of a hamstring injury, the assignment could go to Trevor Ariza, who had a nice training camp and Brown believes he can turn into a good defender. Brown seems reluctant to start the unsung Matt Barnes, who missed practice yesterday due to personal reasons. </div> Source
I think Davis will start today. He has more experience in the league and more experience playing under Larry Brown. Frye is more mobile than Davis, but I'm a little worried about him and his hacking. Davis' rebounding and tough inside defense won't really be needed that much considering he'll be matched up against Raef LaFrentz who spends a lot of his time on the perimeter, the same place Davis feels uncomfortable going to. If Davis is finding the match-up difficult, than I think we can expect some lengthy minutes from Frye.
I think Davis should start.. As stated above--he is a vet and has proven his leadership. btw is Q out?
we need Lee and Fyre on this roster, I don't care how not read they are, we need guys who going to atleast produce a little Send James and Rose to the IR, they bring no energy to this team and aren't productive, they accually hold us back from progressing

Why do we need Frye now? We all know he's soft and is not ready too play alot of minutes. I dont know how you're doubting JJ already and we're still in the 1st game of the season. I definetely think we need Lee in the active roster. He brings energy and his blue collared skills.
