Don't get me wrong I like the guy and glad they signed him but last night was the first night I got to see him play and his D is awful. He is constantly overplaying people and getting caught out of position. He made Brad miller look like he was Dr J. Also he seems like he doesn't get good position on the rebounds.

I hope this was just him being excited of playing his first game at Houston and was just trying to do to much.

I hate to say it, but your right. I was at the game, and Swift's defense was about as terrible as I've seen. It just seemed like he was nervous. I don't expect him to play like that later in the season.

It's a team defence and this is Stromile first game in Houston, i saw his games in Memphis, his D is OK, i think it's a metter of time until he gets into the team defence.

Yeah, it will just take some time, but JVG will turn him into a great defender. Stro just seemed real uncomfortable out there. After maybe 20 games, he should start showing good signs of improvement.

yea he did have a lot of trouble defending the pick and roll...and he needs to learn how to position himself better...but its only the first game so we'll see what happens...

STRO was constantly out of position and picked up dumb fouls. JVG is going to have to resolve that especially if his plan is to bring him in for Yao if he gets in early foul trouble. He does intimidate shooters and should improve his positioning over the course of the year. Got to be positive.

We all said this before the preseason started. We said that if anyone could help his D JVG was the guy. Anyone remember that?

When Stro does the blocks he was doing in preseason, then I see us blowing out teams because yao was blocking critical shots and we always have mutumbo.

After just watching the two games, Swift looks lost and confused out there...he seems so lost on defense and on offense, he's often late setting screens and/or uses his athleticism to get by to try and get dunks and such...at this point, he looks really raw out there and it looks like he has yet to be coached...I cant believe I once thought that this guy was capable of competing for the starting 4 spot...he's got quite a ways to go...Head looks more alert and knowledgeable out there than Swift...

Why is everyone jumping all over Swift? It's only his 2nd game and he's still adjusting. Just like T-Mac last year. He didn't know his role on his team yet but found it later in the season. It's not easy to join a new team especially when it's coached by JVG. So give him time to learn his new teammates and learn what JVG expects of him. He has only had 2 real games and a couple of preseason games. You can't expect him to just jump right in and be great. And the reason Head looks better out there is because he's a guard and there arent that many defensive responsibilities like a big man has. And trust me he isnt perfect either. I saw him lost out there a couple of times too.

^^^I agree with Julio......to be honest Stro looked good in the first half, but the 2nd half was another story.....but people need to just give it time.

He just looks nervous and out of place. Maybe JVG was giving him too big of a role and too much was on his mind that he became a dud on both ends of the court. Maybe JVG should just give him a lighter role like in the grizz so he would concentrate on at least grabbing rebounds and dunking for momentum. because right now nothing is going for him.
