New York Knickerbockers President of Basketball Operations Isiah Thomas announced today that New Jersey native and two-time NBA all-star Kelly Tripucka has been added to the Knicks scouting staff. Tripucka will assist primarily with scouting NBA and college teams, and began his assignments this week.

The Bloomfield, NJ-native has spent the last 12 seasons on the broadcast side as a color analyst, first for the Detroit Pistons, and most recently for the New Jersey Nets. As a player, Tripucka spent 10 seasons in the NBA with the Pistons, Utah Jazz and Charlotte Hornets. A two-time all-star, he averaged 17.2 points for his career, including a career high of 26.5 points in 1982-83. An Academic All-America at the University of Notre Dame, he led the Fightin? Irish in scoring each of his last three seasons. One of the top high school athletes ever in the state of New Jersey, he was a two-time All-America at Bloomfield High and was voted New Jersey High School Player of the Century in 2000 by the Newark Star Ledger. </div>
