The reason why R Hamilton got free for a split second on the last shot. Ricky played reasonably good defensse on Rip until Ricky went under the screens instead of going over the screens. Havent we learned from watching the US get blasted by every country in the Olympics? The US kept going under the picks leaving shooters like S. Jasikevicius open. Thus we kept getting drilled from the outside. I learned from middle school all the way to college to always play above the screen. Ricky you should know better.

Only because Ricky certainly would have liked to go over the screen, but there were actually three screens that made the problem a serious one. He did his best, but in the end, there was no one defending the in bounds. Also, I don't recall Jesikevicius ever doing all that much against the US, he's really more well known for his play in Israel, not so much World play. And aside from that, his days at Maryland were his only real American basketball experience, and I'm sure he went under screens for Gary Williams just like ever other Terrapin of the last twenty years.

Not saying it would have changed the outcome but he would have dusrupted the play at least. How can we forget that Jasikevicius torched the US with 28 pts in the 2004 Olympics (Im not even mentioning what he did to us in the 2000 Olympics). If you dont remember, Ill refresh your memory. He hit three 3 pointers in the 4th quarter along with a four point play when L Odom fouled him while knocking down another three. Again this was done with the American constantly going under the screens. This is also one of the reasons why Marbury and L Brown did not get along. Marbury constantly got burned going under the set screen at the top of the key. BY the way Jasikevicius played high school by here before playing for Maryland. So he does have experience playing here. I dont know how you were taught to fight through a screen but I have always been taught to go above it. It is much easier to defend the offensive player going above the screen than under. In college we had to run sprints if we did not go above on the screens in practice. It is common practice to do this.

Aside from that, I was taught to go over screens, I was simply saying that Ricky didn't have the choice. He was forced under the last screen by the previous two screens he ran into. I was merely taking into account the whole play, not Ricky's preference.
