Reserve Devin Harris scored 20 of his career-high 22 points in the fourth quarter as the Mavericks pulled away from the San Antonio Spurs for a 103-84 victory in Finley's first game back in Dallas since signing with the Spurs this offseason.

Great game and win. The Mavs just took over the Spurs in 2nd half and just lit up the hoop. Good game for Harris and Howard too.

It`s good seeing a W over the top team in the NBA.

Yea, Great game by the mavs. Devin Harris was amazing in the 4th by scoring 20 of his 22 there. Dirk also had a great game. And so did Howard. I think this game shows that the mavs are capable of wining.

I'm not convinced until they do this in the Playoffs.

You have to welcome any win against the defending champs, blasting them by 19 is great for confidence. The Mavs did a great job of containing Manu. He ended up 2 for 11 from the field and only had 1 assist. This is what Doug Christie can do for the team. Lockdown defense.

Very classy for the Mavs to give Finley a standing ovation. I think he actually motivated his former teammates more than he did the Spurs.

Christie was a good move by management. But the lockdown was provided by Josh Howard. See dallasnews.com for David Moore's Dallas Morning News column on the Spurs/Mavs game posted November 5, 2005 shortly after the game in which he reported:
"Howard also played good defense on Ginobli holding the Spurs force of
nature without a field goal for the first three quarters. How valuable
was Howard? After he picked up his fourth foul and went to the bench
with 4:52 left in the third, San Antonio ripped off seven consecutive in
    less than two minutes."

Christie's got the rep, but Howard wants to win and he's willing to use every inch of his god-given ability and go as hard as he can every game. He's not the most naturally talented shooter, but no one has played harder for this team and that includes Eduardo Najera.

This one's good for confidence building purposes. I like what I'm seeing from the team so far but it's the 3rd game of an 82 game season so there still is a long way to go. Great win though and I'm proud of the Mavs for pulling this one out and treating the Dallas crowd to a great home opener. Dirk 4-5 from 3pt. range is just fantastic especially at a time when JT is still trying to find his outside touch and KVH is trying to hit it more consistently.
