That's good news for the 76ers, who could use the help off the bench. Green told reporters that the doctor who performed his surgery said he could be back by the All-Star break.

yeah. this is definetly good news. he can come back and really help the team. i just hope he is completely healthy when he comes back, so he doesnt get an injury that may effect his career.

Even if he comes back the chances of him being 100% are slim to none. He will probably be playing on one leg the rest of the season if he comes back this year. Though we obviously need help of the bench I think he should be more concerned with his health then rushing to come back.

I agree 100%. It is more important for Willie to be healthy heading into next season than it is for him to try and rush back. However, I would love to have him back by the All-Star Break as he would add some sorely needed depth to our bench.

I'm hoping Billy King is smart and doesn't give him the five or six year deal he was going to give him in the offseason, rather I'd like to see them sign him to a two-year deal and then go from there.

Sweet, our bench needs as much help as it can get. Even if he plays on one leg, I think he would still help the team out, although its true Green should be putting health at his first priority. Hopefully all pans out well for him.

This is great news because Salmons just dont cut it for me.

Just out of curiosity why is that? The only negative I see with Salmons is that his confidence is a bit to high right now, and he takes some shots he should not. However, I can not disregard the great season he has had thus far. I think he should be starting right now personally. I mean over 11 points from the bench he has really compensated for the lack of production we have received from Korver.

Salmons has shown some consistency through the first four games of the year, something that did not happen the past three years with him during the regular season. Hopefully he keeps that up as he is our best perimeter option off the bench right now.

I've been wanting to start Salmons over Korver since the beginning of the offseason, as I felt it would be a better move and allow Korver to bring instant offense off the bench. Salmons in the starting line-up would cause us to be a better defensive team, as he is a defensive upgrade over Korver. However, I realize why it is more important for Salmons to come off the bench and have Korver start.

Basically, if we start Salmons then Korver would only be able to sub in at the SF spot, and Iguodala and Salmons would be forced to play major minutes, a little bit more than they would normally play. Salmons brings versatility off the bench as he can play the 1, 2, or 3 positions.

Obviously the entire problem would be solved if Billy King acquired a solid SF to start ahead of Korver, but there aren't many teams that would be willing to take Salmons, Ollie, and our three undrafted rookies. Green coming back healthy would alleviate the situation, as we'd be able to start Salmons and bring Korver and Green off the bench.

If Green is ready to play by the All Star break then it would be good for the team. We would have even more offensive power off the bench adding to Nailon and Salmons. The thing is I don't want to give Willie Green the same type of contract he was offered before he injured his knee this past summer. If we re-sign him I think it should be for a year or two first for the minimum and see how he does. If he continues to improve and develop into a good bench player we can add some more years and money to his contract the following year.
