This guy came outta nowhere, and is REALLY impressing me. 21 points against Phoenix? And, in the Denver game, aside from Kobe, he had a VERY good game, and I say he's the reason we won that game. How bout that facial on Andre Miller? He really showed him up. SMUSH PARKER FOR MOST IMPROVED PLAYER!!!!!!!
i think that Smush Parker has the advantage mostly because he matches up against pointguards, who he is bigger then and thats why he really exposes his strenght in those match ups, i want to see him go up against Chaunce Billups, but other then taht he has really been stepping up, and so far is fairly unchalleneged, because u cant put your point guard on Kobe or Lamar to not give up size to Parker so we'll see how much more he can get out of his constant mismatch.
well, i know that he has been an offensive force with points and assists, but my question is how good is he on defense? i havent been able to watch any laker games. (cable problems)
As far as I've seen, Smush has been real active on defense. He has long arms that can cause problems, and I've seen him come up with a number of nice steals. I'm not sure how great of a defender he is from the little I saw, but he did seem to be putting forth an effort on the defensive end.
From what I have seen his defence has been great especialy on Steve Nash that last game. Andre Miller didnt really do much either now that I think about it? Donno if it was all his D but it probably contributed =)
/ya his defense has been pretty good except against earl boykins but thats only because he played up on him and its hard for anyone to play boykins like that
indeed he's a great shooter that never got a chance in detroit i expect big number from him i'm glad he's on the lakers and he's doing a great job
In an article somewhere I read the Lakers were still trying to play without a good PG....now we all know Smush isn't a PG but he's playing great (at the point) so I think that assesment is unfair. If he can give us 12 pts and 6 asts a night the lakers will be fine. The occasional 20 pt outburst wouldn't hurt either...
He played awesome D today, his stats dont completely reflect his effect on the Lakers. I like him a lot
Smush will ony get better the more he plays with kobe. I think phil has him guarding kobe in practice.
I've been admiring Smush's play also. Especially in the opener against Denver, he really put on a great offensive display. I thought Phil was crazy starting a player coming out of the developmental league over a proven veteran guard like Aaron McKie, but these past three games, he has some tremendous upside, and I'm impressed......let me add also, that facial on Miller was sick as well.
Smush defently suprised me...Kinda wish Detroit hadn't let him go. His defense seems to be very good...He picked Steve Nashs pocket like 4 times in the same play, that was great
I preddict that Smush Parker will be in the top five players this season for steals. He is the biggest suprise and the best aquisition for the Lakers. Nothing but positive things to say about him, good guy.
My question is this- What do we do with McKie? He's averaging like 12 min or less a game and can't be happy. As Gary Payton might say "this isn't what I signed on for". I say we trade him...for me

They way Smush and Profit are playing is going to make this a tough decision for PJax. I think McKie will eventually take all of Sasha's PT away. I'm down to trade McKie, but what can the Lakers get in return? Not much. If the Lakers do make the playoffs, McKie's presence will be a lot more valuable for the team. He's been to the playoffs before and has Finals experience. I think he'd handle himself better than Smush would down the stretch of a clutch game in the post season. What pisses me off though is the Lakers used half of the MLE on him instead of LLE. I think they could have landed him for the LLE, and spent the entire MLE on another big man. The Lakers still need a goon on the team to dish out the hard fouls and clog the middle.
You guys are gonna think I'm an idiot for this but whats the possibility of trading for Nene? This is a scenario for the future obviously but he's a quality Big man that I bet Denver wants to off the books. How much is he costing them?
