Okay, so we lost at home again. That blows goats. But Diaw was one rebound shy of a triple double off the bench. This guy is a lot of fun to watch and man how hot would it be to have another emerging superstar. Hopefully he can continue to grow and I think here in Phoenix is the perfect place for it. Not only the coaching staff but with veterans like Nash, Thomas and Jackson and also Amare to give some insight to improving his outside shot.

As much as I lament our two home losses, I think we can still kick some ass this season. Our bench is crazy good right now, I bet they give our starters a competitive level of play during scrimmages.

Suns will get better...its been close loses both times eventually it'll go their way. But you got to be feeling good about the production Barbosa and Biaw had.

I've watched almost all of the Suns' games so far this season, and this cat Diaw is definitely impressive. He seems to fit in very well with the style of the Suns, but one thing he needs to work on is the consistency of his jumper. If he can develop a consistent jump shot he will be pretty tough to stop.

Boris is getting the starting PF spot vs. Detroit! Moving Marion back to the 3 and making Jones a loaded gun off the bench.

Sweet! I feel like a proud parent, though I'm only 2 years older than he is. Hah. Good on him though, he damn well has earned this chance I think.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Mike D'Antoni doesn't want everyone to read too much into this. The Suns coach just wants to tinker. Try out a few parts in different places.

So going into Thursday's home game against the Detroit Pistons, the starting lineup probably will change.

James Jones is out, Boris Diaw is in.

"We're just not getting enough pop," D'Antoni said after Tuesday's practice at America West Arena. "It's nothing James did. We need a little bit more of a flow at the beginning of the game."

The Suns aren't shy about their goals. They want to get out, push the tempo and overwork the scoreboard.

But after four games, their opponents have matched them point for point in the first quarter, 111-111. Utah led 27-22 after the opening period, the Lakers and Mavericks each trailed by one.

Defining "pop" is the tricky part. Assistant coach Alvin Gentry called it a vague term. "It's kind of hard to verbalize," he said. "We want a little more attack, a little quicker tempo. I know that sounds strange for us, but I just think we need to be a little more offensively aggressive."

Diaw played with the starting unit at the end of Tuesday's practice, joining Shawn Marion, Kurt Thomas, Raja Bell and Steve Nash. Leandro Barbosa, coming off a game-high 23 points in Sunday's loss to Sacramento, also played with the first unit and may see future starting time, too.</div>

Nothing wrong with tinkering, but I think Diaw is better off the bench. He's the second best ball handler on the team and has been effective running the offense. Barbosa is proving he's more of a scorer and not a point guard, so having Diaw make the decisions is paying dividends. Teams will struggle to guard both Barbosa and House at the same time.

On the positive side, it prevents Marion from taking a pounding.

I kind of prefer Diaw off the bench too, this move is a little strange. I think a motivating factor would be Jones' killer instinct late in games, and if he can play like the cold-blooded killer he is, than having him fresh for late in the game is nothing but a good thing. I've really enjoyed the way he has been coming around. Diaw definitely has earned his way, but with any luck, he will be able to play the same way against the starters, that's the real test.

Man I knew he would continue the good play he showed in the Euro championships. I remember someone on the Rockets forum was making fun of the Joe Johnson trade and getting Diaw as a throw-in.

Some throw-in, he WAS the deal. But I think the most important thing about Diaw is that he hasn't been intimidated by all the roles D'Antoni's used him in. I'm very impressed with how smart he seems to be playing and how willing he is to make it work at all costs.
