Despite the club's losing ways -- or actually, because of them -- the Pirates have no way to go but up, both on the field and off, analysts said.

In an e-mail response to The Associated Press, Cuban said Monday he looked into buying the team recently but, "they told me they have no interest in selling."

TheDeal.com, a business Internet site, reported in a separate article that Pirates CEO and Managing General Partner Kevin McClatchy is interested in selling. The story was based on conversations with an anonymous baseball insider and a financial analyst, said Phineas Lambert, the author. </div>

Too, bad he'd be a great owner for them. The Pirates have never spent the money to keep their young talent, and Cuban would have changed that immediately.

I would really of liked to see Cuban has the owner of the Pirates. I haven't seen baseball for too long but the Pirates don't seem like a very good team and they don't seem like they have won a lot.

Cuban would definately bring some excitement to the city and also maybe be able to maintain some players and actually have big stars in the team. The only person I can remember from them is Jason Bay and hes not quite a star.

Just wondering, do you think cuban would of lost a bit of focus of the Mavericks if he bought the Pirates.
