KEY MATCHUP JASON TERRY VS. ALLEN IVERSON The Sixers are off to a sluggish start, but don't blame Iverson. He's been his usual self, averaging 31 points in the opening four games, despite 38.7 percent shooting. He's also averaging eight assists and 13 trips to the free throw line. Terry is coming off a poor scoring game, but he had eight assists against the Spurs . Inside the Mavericks Ebbing and flowing: Erick Dampier hasn't put up big numbers yet, but that doesn't mean he hasn't been an asset. "He was awfully good against the Spurs," coach Avery Johnson said. "Tim Duncan had 18 points, and he [Dampier]) was on Tim a lot in that game." Difficult spot: Of the three opponents on this trip, Philadelphia has the worst record. But that means nothing, said Darrell Armstrong. "If you can't play in Philly, you can't play anywhere, because those fans are going to make you play and A.I. is going to make you play," he said. Inside the Sixers Don't forget about the others: While Allen Iverson and Chris Webber lead the Sixers, it was sharpshooter Kyle Korver who had 16 points and 10 rebounds last season at American Airlines Center in a game that Iverson missed yet was still won by the Sixers. Briefly: Center Samuel Dalembert re-signed for big bucks this summer but hasn't played because of a right quadriceps strain. ... The Sixers have yet to win a home game, losing to Milwaukee and Charlotte. ... Maurice Cheeks, the Sixers' all-time assists leader (6,212) has rejoined the franchise as coach. THe sixers seem to be keepin it close so far. Dirk has 14 so far in the 1st half. I wont be suprised if he scores more than 30 today. Iguodala and Iverson seem to be keeping the sixers alive.
Dirk twisted his back in the game, and the 76ers took full advantage. The Sixers scored 66 points in the second half and won the game 112-97. Dirk left after only 17 minutes on the court.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Maverick:</div><div class="quote_post">Is it a bad injury? This sucks that we lost</div> Forget the loss. I'd take a L over losing Dirk every day. This isnt going to test Avery. IMO, I dont really like the way he's coaching, toooooooo much small ball for my taste. Dampier played way better than his box score showed and Diop had 3 blocks in almost 10 minutes of play. Someone tell Avery we tried small ball and it failed. Dirk you better get better before i kick your ash.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Maverick:</div><div class="quote_post">Is it a bad injury? This sucks that we lost</div> They are calling the injury day to day. It was bizarre how it happened, he just drove to the basket untouched and tweaked his back some how. Apparently Harris is also injured. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">It's been kind of stiff the last two or three weeks," Nowitzki said. "I made a move on the baseline and I sort of twisted the wrong way. It locked up, and I couldn't move." Nowitzki had X-rays on the back recently with no damage revealed. He will receive treatment today and said he hopes to be ready Friday against Charlotte or Saturday against New Orleans. Nowitzki is day-to-day, as is Harris, who turned his left ankle with two minutes to go in the third quarter and the Mavericks enjoying a 71-66 lead. Harris tried to make it up and down the court a few times before leaving for good. That coincided with a 15-0 Philadelphia surge that put the Sixers up by 10, and their run would eventually reach 29-5 as they went up, 95-76. The Mavs closed within nine behind Terry's 3-point shooting, but he fouled out with 2:20 to play. </div> Source
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Someone tell Avery we tried small ball and it failed.</div> You don't think I already know that? With injuries to Dalembert, Bradely and Randolph I'm getting tired of having Nailon at PF and Webber at C. It's getting ridiculous, luckily for us we were able to pull out some wins because we can't go on any sorts of winning streaks without size and rebounding.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Maverick:</div><div class="quote_post">Is it a bad injury? This sucks that we lost</div> Don't tell me you weren't expecting it.
