<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">It was evident a week into training camp that Brian Cardinal wouldn't be ready to play at the start of the season. So what is Cardinal's prognosis now that the regular season is a week old? The forward has made meaningful progress during recent rehabilitation of his surgically repaired left knee, according to team officials. His goal is to join team practice by the end of the month. "I'd love to be back on the court doing some things in practice in the next couple of weeks," Cardinal said. "It still gets a little sore. But I'm able to do a lot more things than I was able to just a few days ago. It's a slow process just because all of these guys are out there going 100 percent." Cardinal's knee is at full strength and it has full range of motion. He's reportedly able to perform functional movements -- running and jumping -- albeit not at basketball speed or intensity. Cardinal said he likely will not travel with the team on a three-game trip that begins tonight at Boston. At the request of team doctors, Cardinal is expected to visit a specialist to confirm encouraging developments with his knee. "It would erase some of the doubt in my mind about a few things," Cardinal said. "For whatever reason my knee hasn't cooperated. Now, it's just about trying to get it healthy and being able to go out there and mix it up." Cardinal underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee on May 17. </div> Source
