Honestly i have no idea what babcock is doing with his job he is not even trying to improve the team look at all the other teams in the NBA who are making significant changes WE need a big man badly and i dont see babcock doing anything inorder to improve our team the Nets got Jackson for just a 2nd round pick..wtf the hawks got zaza i think babcocks time with the raptors should end soon and same with peddie they are not only making the raptors worse but the leafs are falling aswell
I'm still wondering how they let Jamaal Magloire slip past them to the Bucks. You have to believe the Raptors could have put together a better package than Desmond Mason and 1st Rounder. When you desperately need a center, and there's one on the market willing to play for you, it's ok to overpay a little for that person's services. Show the fans, Bosh, and the rest of league you're serious about winning.

A few days ago you said Babcock had a good offseason. Now your saying he should be fired?

Aside from his undesirable contract, by the admission of everyone involved, including Babcock, we're in a rebuilding mode, it's quite obvious. The Hornets wanted either picks or young talent, along side probably Morris Peterson, which is not a good deal for the Raps. Besides, I do have a personal belief that Jamaal Magloire is overrated. And you know what, if he weren't a Toronto native, I'm quite sure we wouldn't be talking about his possible trades to the Raptors as often as you think. Yes, Magloire may fill our centre need for now, but we are planning on being a contender 2 or 3 years down the road, by giving up young talent or picks for Magloire, there are fewer acids for the Raps to work with. Yes, Magloire may help us win few games now, but we honestly DON'T care as much about the present as we do about our future and Babcock's plan of making a contender out of this team in few years. We have to stick by the plan now, because it's too late. Besides, Magloire will be a free agent at the summer of 2007 anyways, and that's the year many of our huge contracts come off the books, which gives us a better chance of signing him, if we want to. We do have the upper hand in this regard. Trust me, Chris Bosh and most of the die-hard knowledgable Raptor fans realize this plan, and as long as it gets executed, both Bosh and the fan base are not going anywhere.
The Nets got Jackson because they had a TE, which the Raptors don't. I'm sure the Raps could have got Magloire for Peterson and a 1st rounder. Either way the center position is losing us games.

If you don't want him, who do you expect the Raptors to get instead? There really isn't much out there in terms of servicable centers. In the 2006 free agent class you can cross your fingers and hope Nene stays healthy, after him the best available big men are Nazr Mohammed, Chris Wilcox and Melvin Ely. Neither Wilcox or Ely are true centers, and basically do the same things Bosh does on the court. If you expect a center to come from the draft, then you better scrap the 2 or 3 year plan, because there isn't anyone ready to step right in and make that type of impact. Why can't Magloire be part of the future? He's only 27 years old and I'm sure he'd sign with the Raptors for a reasonable price. He's already made plenty of money from his last deal, and in two years from now he'll be more concerned about winning (which is part of the plan in Toronto) and his living situation than chasing the almighty dollar. Magloire doesn't need to be a superstar player, but he's a complimentary player to the Raptor's franchise player, Chris Bosh. You can count on Magloire to rebound the ball, play post defense, and get you 10+ points a game. What makes Magloire a solid pickup is the fact he doesn't need the ball in his hands to be effective. You can count on him for 10/10 a game and close to 2 blocks. If the Raptors plan on signing him in 2007, why wait two years for him? Why not trade for him now if it's only going to cost you Mo Pete and a 1st round pick? Mo Pete is coming off the bench as it is and yet another 1st round pick is just a gamble, and do you really trust Babcock's drafting history? Let's say the Raptors end up with the #1 pick next year, who would you draft? There are no true centers in next year's draft, and the Raptors already have young players at all the other positions. As it is, the team can't even find minutes for this year's two first rounders. Magloire makes a lot of sense to me for the present and future plans of the Raptors. Present 5 C - Magloire PF - Bosh SF - Graham SG - Rose PG - James Future 5 C - Magloire PF - Bosh SF - CV SG - Graham PG - Ukic

Magloire makes a lot of sense to me for the present and future plans of the Raptors.
You misinterpreted what I said. I for sure do not mind Magloire on this team, I'm just not ready to part ways with our young talent and/or picks to get him. Why should we do so when we can get him in 2007? For the right price, he'd be more than a great addition to this team, but I don't want him now when he's going to cost me good value when I can get him in two years when I'm ready to contend. He has expressed his desire to be a Raptor several times, and Chris Bosh is another draw. As for you other comments: - I don't know if you've realized, but Morris Peterson has been our best player this season and the second half of last season. Add to that the fact that he's our best defender and you got an integral part of our team. And for 5 Mil/year, he's one of the best contracts the Raps have ever had (compared to production obviously and execluding rookie contracts). And as for Babcock's draft history, it ain't that ugly. He had one terrible pick in Rafael Araujo, but all GM's make draft mistakes, it's how you learn from them. It's how you rebound from them. And he responded with 5 solid picks: - Pape Sow (2nd Round) - Charlie Villanueva - Joey Graham - Roko Ukic (2nd Round) - Jose Calderon (Euro pickup)
I wouldn't want Magloire for what was being asked. The guy is a nice player, but he's not as good as people seem to think he is. He's also really not that young, and I definately would not give 2 first rounders for him. If they wanted maybe 1 first rounder and like MoPete or something, yes, but 2 first's, no way. Thank you, come again.
What are the chances of Mo Pete sticking around? From this year's draft it looks like the writing is on the wall for him to leave in two years. Joey Graham and CV are future at the swing position, so where does that leave Mo Pete? Mo Pete is going to want a significant pay raise and I don't see the Raptors giving into his demands. This past summer we saw Michael Redd, Larry Hughes, Caron Butler, and Mike Dunleavy Jr. get hefty contracts. Mo Pete and his agent are going to use them to set his price in the market. A lot of teams are positioning themselves for the summer of 2007, so there should be someone willing to spend more than what the Raptors can afford. And with young players on their team ready to replace him, he's gone. If the Raptors keep the draft pick who do you want to see them draft to fill the need for a center?
Well I have nothing against trading MoPete, he's cool, but he's probably the teams best trade bait right now. I've not really been looking into who we could draft, when the time arrives, I will look into it more. We can't expect short term fixes that might not help or handicap the team down the road. Right now the Raps aren't going to win anyways, with Magloire, and no Charlie and Joey, I don't see a playoff team. Losing a lot of talent for Magloire who will be an RFA in 2 years doesn't really help. With Magloire in a pretty good frontcourt, his numbers could go down and decrease his value. If in 2 years we still have the hole, we can sign the 29 or 30 year old Magloire to a reasonable contract.
