Hopefully they can pull this game off tonight and not have another heartbreaker [IMG] Anyone know what channel the game is on? Go Suns!

It's on TNT I think. And yeah, I hope we can pull this off.. but it's no small order to do so.

I think it's realistic to say that they can win tonight. Yeah, Detroit's undefeated, but I don't know if they can slow down the Suns. They weren't able to do it last year, so if they run, I don't see Detroit stopping the Suns. The Suns problem is they're allowing too many points, especially off of offensive rebounds, which the Pistons are monsters at getting. I think they're gonna need either Diaw or Thomas to not break on Piston shots and commit to getting the defensive rebounds, or else the Wallace's and McDyess are gonna have a field day getting boards.

Suns are going to struggle on the boards. The Pistons killed the Suns last year on offensive rebounding. The Pistons play a much faster pace this year and are currently 2nd in fastbreak points can you believe. So the Suns better get back on D. This game would be very tough even If Amare was in the Suns line-up, without him they should struggle.

Hope It's a good game though

The pistons are just so dominating this year, that i can't see how the suns could win. Detroit would have to have a total breakdown. Theres only maybe 2 or 3 other teams in the nba that can play with detroit. Detroit won't have a 70 win season or anything, but they will probably be in the finals with San Antonio again. maybe winning it all this time.

I absolutely cannot wait for this game. Yes it's on TNT at 10:30, and what a game it'll be.

I don't think the Pistons are as good as people have made them out to be. That's not to say that they're a bad team, not by a long shot, but I don't think we'll see the same result this year that we saw last. Who knows what'll happen, but I think Phoenix has a good chance at this one. Rasheed has been so far off his game, it's ridiculous, and I think that's a great opening for a guy like Marion to exploit. More than anything, I just want to see some good boardwork. If they get caught out of position on defense, they can kiss this one goodbye.

First off how can the Pistons not be as good as people made them out to be? the team has been underrated all summer even though the whole starting 5 that won the title on 04 and came one game from repeating as Champs is still there. Plus the bench has been upgraded. Now the Pistons are proving why they won the east, all the experts have decided to jump on the bandwagon which is quite annoying.

The Pistons are already doing much better than last year with the new style offense. Thats the key to the start and why the Pistons are dominating. No more walking the ball up the floor and having long scoring droughts.

Disagree completely about Sheed, his offensive game may not be great so far but 3 of the 4 games have been blowouts so It's no surprise his numbers are down. He has barely had to play many minutes. However his impact on the games is still great as ever. His post defense has been very good so making such a statement shows to me that you havn't watched the Pistons that much this year, as early as It may seem. So the point about Marion exploiting Sheed doesn't hold alot of truth.

I hate to say it but I agree that the Pistons were in fact underrated if anything... they now have a running game comparable to ours without Amare.
    I fear a loss here.

I think we will lose, but it will be a close game. We need to get a home win! We are 0-2 there.

If we had Amare we would kill the Pistons though. [IMG]

Game's starting and everything is as it should be. Transition looks good, and the rebounding has been good too. Keep it up. More after the first quarter.

I stopped playing Battlefront II for this, it better be good.

Wow, a blazing start, and a total cooling off. Definitely not loving the way they're shooting all of a sudden, they don't seem to have their heads on straight.

Speaking of which, what about Doug Collins' keys to the game? Marion vs. Prince? Does anyone really think those two will be defending eachother with both Wallaces on the court? Has Collins been drinking? Diaw has been covering Prince so far, and done an "ok" job, not fair, but "ok."

More running, fewer silly shots. Use your follow-up looks as best you can, don't just haul off and shoot the first play that comes your way.

Well, first quarter's done, and I can't say I'm surprised. I'm a little weirded out by the incredible inconsistency of this offense, but there's a lot of ball to be played.

The Suns have played reasonably well, but some ball control would be a plus.

Big ups to the Pistons, who are running their little hearts out. More of this please. Fun game to watch.

diaw started at SF tonight vs detroit
is it just d'antoni's reward for him playing well recently or it's more like a strategic move...james jones played off bench tonight

I hope it's not a permanent move though, or share-time kind of thing with james jones...because i still think james jones will make suns more successful (think about james jones and quentin 2004) than diaw

Diaw should be a very valuable bench player and can play multiple positions...so if one of the starters are off to a rough start or something, he should be inserted right in.

That's my take on diaw and james jones's role...what you guys think?

D'Antoni has actually said that this is just an experimental thing. I have a feeling it was just game planning for the Pistons specifically, probably for Diaw's D, which is ironic, because Jones is playing better defensively tonight. I just think it's funny.

But yeah, D'Antoni has already said he's just "tinkering," so nothing really worth noting there. I think rosters will resume next game.

Well, on to the second half. The running game is clearly superior to Detroit's, there's no question of that, but the defense is sorely lacking, and it's getting a little frustrating. They can still win this game, especially with the way the Pistons are just giving away baskets in transition, but I think it will ultimately come down to rotations and lineups in the second half. The Suns can't have the second unit give away points, because the first unit doesn't play the defense necessary to stem the tide.

No playing from behind, or this one's a goner.

52-52 at the half, by the way.

Looks like all Rasheed has done is get the refs into this one. Now that he has his requisite technical, the refs aren't giving them anything. Gotta love that home cookin'.

Well, it'll come down to the fourth. 82-74 Suns as the fourth begins. The big thing in the third was definitely Barbosa's confidence. It's nice to see him show off his touch a little, but he needs to be mindful of the other things going on on the court. He missed a couple wide open teammates at the buzzer there, and that's just a shame. Don't let your head get the best of you.

Aside from that, fun game so far. Both teams are running hard, but it looks like the Pistons have given up their wind first. Were I Flip, I'd be running a few more half court sets and letting the defense try to stop me here, but I'm not, so hey, run with 'em, or try to anyway.

'Sheed turned the refs, and now everyone else is trying to clean up. Not only that, but it looks like both Rip and Prince came up lame on various plays in the quarter. Good sign if you ask me. Not that they're injured, it just helps the Suns' chances.

So Nash and Co. resume their role in the fourth, it's anybody's game, let's go get 'em.

To me, the thing that's remarkable is the way the suns aren't getting lost on screens and rotations. Offensive boards are another issue, but they aren't giving up bad matchups on switches, and that's impressive, good coaching is what that is.

Speaking of good coaching, how about the ideal bench management by D'Antoni? Gotta love it.

Look at Sheed! Give that man a biscuit. Talk about comin' up big. Who's bigger? Only Nash.

1:50 to go and only a two point game. This one's turnin' out to be a doozy. What a great game to watch so far. More like this, these are what I watch the game for.

Well, that just about seals it. The Suns play Gutsy ball, but like was said, it comes down to who wants it more. Rip played like a champ in the fourth and he earned this one. Tough tough game. Fun to watch, but that's all she wrote. Just like somebody said, it really was the team with more big game experience that made this one go. The thing that gets me is that it's the same play Rip runs all the time that just works so well. Good for him and good for the Pistons.
