This crap with playing a big lineup to rebound at the end is retarded. If you're supposed to be built to score then you have to play that way for 48 minutes. You don't go with Thomas and Grant together for the last couple minutes. You do what it is that you do, instead of this wishy washy schizophrenic garbage. This loss falls squarely on the shoulders of Mike D'antoni. He should be playing Shawn back at the 4 if he wants to rebound the ball late and play Diaw or Bell at the 3 and Barbosa at the 2. You have to have the leading scorer on the team in the game in the 4th quarter. Sitting the guy with more points than minutes is terrible coaching. I said last year that Mike D'antoni had no business being coach of the year. Telling last year's team to run was not great coaching. I could have coached that team to 45 wins by saying, "Just run guys, Steve will get you open shots". He showed tonight why he didn't deserve it. If the whole of your offense down the stretch is Steve Nash getting a switch and shooting a jumper against a big man then you're ruined. I agree with Charles Barkley that Amare should stay out all year. This team is bad. They won't make a run at the title, they may not even make the playoffs.

Why he doesn't go with the lineup he's been playing is beyond me. You're absolutely right, Marion 4, Diaw 3, Barbosa 2. Let the scorers do their job. Yes, the defense was serviceable at best, but stick to your guns and good things will happen. I still have hope for this team, but I think tonight was as good a reason as any to wonder about the coaching. Coaching in high-pressure situations takes patience and self-assuredness, something D'Antoni has showed in only limited quantities. I think what he needs to do is know that what he's doing is right when he sets the rotations, and then coach like it. While he's at it, he may want to sit down with guys like Eddie House, Boris Diaw, and the two big vets, and let them know what their roles on this team are. A lot of confusion seemed to occur late in the game as to where everyone should be. Nash handled it too much at the end of the game and we lost, oh well. This is something even a child would learn from, and I expect the Suns' coaching to as well.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting hohoyoyoyo:</div><div class="quote_post">diaw started at SF tonight vs detroit is it just d'antoni's reward for him playing well recently or it's more like a strategic move...james jones played off bench tonight I hope it's not a permanent move though, or share-time kind of thing with james jones...because i still think james jones will make suns more successful (think about james jones and quentin 2004) than diaw Diaw should be a very valuable bench player and can play multiple positions...so if one of the starters are off to a rough start or something, he should be inserted right in. That's my take on diaw and james jones's role...what you guys think?</div> They put him in because they wanted more energy in the starting line up instead of a guy that mostly stands and shoots. Diaw brings that energy and should continue being a starter. Besides, James Jones is better off the bench. They said that he is because he has done that his whole career.
This team sucks? We played very well against very good teams, Dallas and Detroit. 2 shots made would have made us a 4-1 team. Don't give me that crap, this is a very good team. Much more depth than last year, better defense, and their shooting is very, very good like last year. If Amare comes back they will be great. D'Antoni was a good coach. They have a lot of new players and he is just seeing what they can do together. The reason we lost to Dallas was because we couldn't rebound so it wasn't a bad idea to put in Grant and Thomas, but Barbosa should have been playing.
