I hate to say it, but I feel Spree could be the answer to our bench scoring problems. We need bench scoring to be a playoff contender and he is the best solution out there. He lives in LA and would take less money to play for us. Do we still have the 2.5 mil available? an extra 15 points a game would put us in the hunt for the Pacific when Kobe goes cold or Smush makes rookie mistakes. When we lose it's because the bench gets killed and this is only November. We need Spree!
I'm not sure, so far I like the way Smush and Profit are playing, and the SG/SF depth will improve when Walton returns. The Lakers need a physical big man more than they need Spree.
I think we can take a chance on Spree. Being unsigned when the season is already underway is quite a heaping serving of humble pie. The Lakers need consistent scorers off the bench. Spree brings adequate defense, can create his own shot, and can spell Kobe at SG. He won't create trouble if he plans on reviving his career and still angle for a better contract elsewhere. At the veterans' minimum ($1m+) for one year, he would be value for money. If he's trouble, Phil can just cut him pronto.
I think it's too early to go for Spree. He's playing for a better contract next year, and isn't getting playing time...now he's become a huge distraction demanding a trade. Players in contract years are selfish as hell because they know that one good season can bring in millions of extra dollars. If spree didn't get 25-33 minutes a night he'd speak up.
Getting Spree is just getting into trouble. I'd rather have the Lakers wait to get someone younger and less of a trouble maker. Patience is key.

the Lakers blew it on Baron Davis by not acting quick enough and will blow it again if they don't act on Spree. Mitch should have been fired two years ago. Ask Shaq.
Trading Shaq was a good move. Trading Shaq for what we got was terrible. Anyways...now that the Lakers have fallen to 3-4, I think it's time to start worrying. Bring in Spree, it can't get any worse it really can't.
