Larry is famous for slow starts. Anyone wanna guess. Larry has a nice track record. Anyone wanna guess why? Because laying down a foundation requires that you dig below the surface. If your putting up a building you must first dig below the surface before you go up. The taller the building the deeper the foundation. Imagine seeing a notice for a new skyscraper with a pretty picture of it to show what it looks like when completed. Then day after day your walking by the site and just amazed that the building is not going up but actually they are digging and digging THE OTHER WAY! IMagine reading about this wonderful building and maybe thinking about buying a place in it. Day after day the hole gets deeper and deeper. Logically you understand but then you just lose site of it all and think "how the **** am I going to enjoy this place if they are going the wrong way! days go by and start thinking what fools these workers are. They should get new ones, younger ones! The old ones despite the fact they have worked on many buildings, just don's seem to be getting it done. A week later, there is a union strike and you notice many new young workers really buzzing. A few days later you see things have stopped and they are filling in some dirt. you ask why and a superviser says the young guys were so excited and full of energy they over dug and did it wrong! Further amazed you seek out the site contracter and question his knowlege and back ground. Angry he yells that you don't know what your talking about and there are many things you don't understand about this site, this company, this piece of land, and how the building must be anchored. Besides, he is only following the specifications given to him! You go see the Architect who has a nice model of the building in his office and he smiles and tells you about how wonderful it is and it will be a great place. Forgetting about the site, your all pumped up again imagining the finished product only. The next day you go by the site and it looks like nothing is getting done! You change your commute to work and swear your not even going to bother with this because its never getting done! A year later you go by and see this wonderful tall building and decide to buy in!! You find out the best units are all gone and the cost has gone up 40%! Outraged you complain but the realitor says the preconstruction price was a good one and those with vision get the better unit and better price. And after all they were the ones patient and will get more enjoyment. Upset, you leave the sales office and see some few friends who are now living there. You ask how its going and they tell you how much fun it was to watch their new home get built and how amazing to see the old building get torn down, the site prepared and "who could believe it would look this good"! The Architect walks buy at this time and says "I did!". They all talk about how wonderful the gala opening party was for those first owners and how it made moving in so much more exciting! They explaine how the sense of community is very enjoyable and they used to get together to watch it being built. There used to be some more friends who were in the early group but they lost patience and dropped out. Guys and girls, there is no guarantee this team will ever win a champioinship, in fact I suspect its not really designed to do so by the owners. It is designed to eventually succeed and go deep in the playoffs making money for its owners. Perhaps I am wrong and we go further! But this team, this roster, and all the changes being made one can really begin to understand the task at hand and while its very discouraging now, be happy that we are not concerned about building a mediocore team and willing to dig deep to get it done right from the start! Past teams would be more concerned about a slow start but larry can carry this thru. If anyone is to blame, blame Isiah! But logically its not about the first 10 games, its about getting it right. It might mean upping a lotto pick. But would we prefer we play Eddie out of shape risking injury? Or playing smaller minutes and concentrating on the fundamentals. WOuld we prefer Marbs stay in and pad stats or pull him and give the minutes to others. Quality minutes are the objective. ANd if you can't give them, you sit. Getting it right is not easy. Long analogy but I believe the point is well made... (Good to be back!)
"less art and more matter", if I may use a Shakspearean quote . Long post, but well written. I dont care how far Larry Brown is "digging", theres no excuse for losing to Portland, especially after a couple of very winnable games. I understand Larry Brown is nototrious for bad starts but 0-4 against mediocre competition is unacceptable.
KEEP Dreaming. Marbury, Crawford, and Qrich cannot Play in the same lineup..... They're shooting a combined 30percent field goal perc at best in the games they played this season. Not providing enough assists for their players.. And thier defense is horrible..... Signing Qrich is another waste of money.... theyre far too alike . Just because Qrich has a good reputation doesnt mean you shud buy him.. ISIAH!! they need to buy players with the right mix and chemistry. Not only offensively minded players.
Lol win a championship?? Are you kidding me?? Making it to the playoffs is already an achievement for them

Crawford penetrates and takes alot of jumpers. Theyre defintely not alike. You have to consider that this team is new. Only 2 starters remained from last year. Theyre not going 2 have alot of chemistry because of it. Eventually that lineup will work. The knicks should be 2-2 rite now. 0-4 is horrible though. They should be picking it up and going on winning streaks.
Loosing Kurt Thomas a big blow for the Knicks if they did not trade him for Q their line-up would have been: Curry/Thomas/Crawford/Ariza/Marbury yeah im putting Ariza up there..just because he is the top defender within the Knicks and is one of LB's faviourates
The Knicks are alive because it is 4 games into the season. They have alot of new players that need to learn how to play together. They are learning a new system. Why the Knicks are not alive? Because they have 3 rookies in their rotation. Because Stephon Marbury is not a winner.

They come off with a spark every time and can score, pass, rebound, etc. Dont blame the rookies, blame the vets.

And less than 4 assists on average is not good enough at this level. Thats what guards are supposed to do.. score/defend/assist. And both these players are shooting below 30 percent and dishing out less than 4 assists a game.. Knicks have yet found a consistent shooting guard.. in terms of scoring assists . And Qrich is playing forward and he cant get a rebound for his life......... THats what i mean in terms of defending too.. How do u win a game with only eddy and prehistoric davis rebounding
They just will not win with Stephon Marbury. Everywhere he goes, things go down. In Minny, he wasn't happy, he left, they then became a much better team. He goes to New Jersey, hated it, had all of the "by myself" stuff on his shoes, etc. He leaves, New Jersey makes the Finals (no, not all his fault, but its a pattern) Goes to Phoenix, suddenly gets jealous of a new young star taking the spotlight (Amare) and wants out. He leaves, they become a Western Conference power. He's a cancer.
The team chemistry aint there yet. They Knicks that were there have to adjust to Larry Browns coaching and all the new players have to adjust to Larry Browns system.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting the team:</div><div class="quote_post">The team chemistry aint there yet. The reality is that they aren't a very good team. That's my belief. A coach can only do so much. The reason they have lost so far is simple. They are averaging over 20 turnovers a game, and their guards are shooting poorly. Their defense has been very shaky.

The Knicks are off to a slow start, but LB has not even begun to shape this team and revamp the roster by getting his "type" of players aboard. Right now he's just experimenting and tinkering with the lineup. He needs to learn what motivates his key players and then you'll start seeing things click with this team. The Knicks still have some quality talent on this team, especially on offense. Marbury, QRich, Curry, Crawford etc. are all capable scorers. The faster they buy into LB's coaching philosophy the faster this team will start winning. The guys who don't come around will be sent packing. Just give it some time.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting the team:</div><div class="quote_post">The team chemistry aint there yet. I have upmost respect to larry brown.. but its down to the players to make it click....... theyre the ones who are paid the big bucks ... Isiah's choice in players isnt the greatest either.. They have the highest salary cap in the nba so using "getting used to new systen" excuse is only credible the first 12 games of the season ...But despite all this, anything less than the playoffs is a failure aka NOT GOOD ENOUGH......

If you really want to see a player with all-star talent that has a pattern of losing check out Shareef Abdur Rahim. Man everywhere he goes, even if on a team that looks absolutely fantastic on paper, the team just loses.

I think you guys are giving far too much credit to Brown. He is a great coach but can't do much without high enough quality players. For the time being they aren't gonna go anywhere with this team.

Dont doubt a team when the players, coaches, etc are all new. LB needs to fit pieces together. He has to test the players and see their real talents.
