Source: http://www.nypost.com/sports/knicks/31154.htm Hoopshype just said that the Raps and Knicks are considering swapping Rose for Marbury we have two options its either Rose for Malik Rose/Taylor or Hardaway or Rose for Marbury/filler I would love to complete the second option I wouldnt mind sending James and Rose for Marbury and maybe Ariza? or someone this would improve the RAPS A LOT BUT knowing babcock..if he does the rose for Mailk Rose/Taylor or hardaway i'll be really pissed off Rose is worth much more than that and Malik Rose has a lot of years left in his contract
I dont really know about this, doesnt Marbury have a rep as being a cancer in the locker room? I think this would be a good trade depending on the years that Marbury has left on his contract. There will always a possibility that he wants a buyout.

Hes got 4 years left on his deal, including this year, over that period he averages slightly more than 19 mils a year. I never really liked him, I think hes overrated and i dont think its a coincidence that he is moved so often and that the teams he plays for are bad. If I were a Raptor fan I would prefer to let Rose's contract expire rather than take on Marbury's and be in salary cap hell for a few years (in which you will need alot of money to resign the young talent).
Buyer beware. I think the better deal is swapping Rose for Hardaway, and saving the team $16.9M, then waiving Penny and using the roster spot for a younger player, Slokar? Graham and Mo Pete can play all of Rose's minutes. I'm sure if Marbury ended up in Toronto he'd be a complainer and cry about being in Canada, he's one of "those types." Plus like Run BJM mentioned, his contract is absurd and it prevents the Raptors from signing any significant free agents for the next 4 years. Everytime Marbury is traded, the team trading him has a miraculous turnaround. I don't think the Raptors want to get into the business of helping out the Knicks. Let Marbury continue to torment Larry Brown and the Knicks organization.

As a side note headline should read: Two dumbest GM's in league match wits to try and get deal done.
If you think the Knicks are going to trade Marbury straight up for Jalen, you better check with psyotherapist. However, I wouldn't do either trade. Unless picks/other players are involved.
Marbury wouldnt like Canada, just knowing his history he wouldnt. Jalen is a great player in my books even if he doesnt play D, I still love the guy for playing with heart and being the player he is. Ariza, I doubt is expendable he's arguably the best defender on the Knicks roster, which is full of players who dont know what Defense means. Starbury for Rose would be a great deal, as long as the Knicks gave up one of there big men in the process to free up the logjam. I dont know if Babcock would do it, but Im sure Isiah would looking at who he's brought in so far.
No way I want Marbury here and his huge contract. We are finally close to having cap space after many, many years not being able to do anything. If Babcock really wants to build this team around Bosh, CV, Graham, he won't do this deal. If we trade Rose for Hardaway and if his contract is expiring (like someone mentioned), then I would go for that. New York doesn't have much to lose. They're already way over the cap and Hardaway is basically useless to them now. If Rose doesn't work out, his contract will run out soon anyways. Marbury is overrated. I would rather have a pass-first, unselfish guy like Calderon running our team ten times out of ten.
i wouldnt want marbury but if the team goes 0-10, then sure what could be the harm! I'd much rather have professionals of the game rather than a guy who thinks he's all that.... Toronto Trade Breakdown Outgoing Mike James 6-2 PG from Duquesne 12.4 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 2.9 apg in 25.6 minutes Jalen Rose 6-8 SG from Michigan 18.5 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 2.6 apg in 33.5 minutes Incoming Bobby Jackson 6-1 PG from Minnesota 12.0 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 2.4 apg in 21.4 minutes Eddie Jones 6-6 SG from Temple 12.7 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 2.6 apg in 35.5 minutes Change in team outlook: -6.2 ppg, +1.9 rpg, and -0.5 apg. Memphis Trade Breakdown Outgoing Bobby Jackson 6-1 PG from Minnesota 12.0 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 2.4 apg in 21.4 minutes Eddie Jones 6-6 SG from Temple 12.7 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 2.6 apg in 35.5 minutes Incoming Mike James 6-2 PG from Duquesne 12.4 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 2.9 apg in 25.6 minutes Jalen Rose 6-8 SG from Michigan 18.5 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 2.6 apg in 33.5 minutes Change in team outlook: +6.2 ppg, -1.9 rpg, and +0.5 apg. Successful Scenario Due to Toronto and Memphis being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Toronto and Memphis had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
no thank you i hope isiah doesnt make this happen we need a PG like marbury and we dont have any other good pg on the team nate robinson would be too short to start if starbury is gone, on the other hand penny for rose would be niiiccee
Rose for Marbury 1) Larry Brown doesn't like Jalen Rose 2) Why do the Knicks need another no defense, I want to shoot a lot player? 3) The talent difference does not serve justice for them, while no one really wants Marbury if they're giving up a lot, he can get you mroe than Jalen 4) Why would the Raptors want Marbury? Rose for Penny See #1 and #2 from Rose for Marbury 3) Don't the Knicks needs the cap space too? 4) Penny actually played for them last game
The New York Post is at it again with their stupid analysts. Why would the knicks trade for another SF? Theyre logjammed at that position. Ariza, Q, and Barnes. Isiah isnt trading the hometown kid. Steph is the heart and soul of the knicks. His performance yesterday showed why he should stay a knick. Besides that Stars cant be in Toronto. VC showed us that 2 years ago. I wanted Rose in the offseason but they added Q, so they dont really need him anymore. The knicks are going 2 trade for a PF. Maybe the raps include Bosh and its a deal.
i'd rather lose pretty if i were the raptors then lose ugly if they traded for marbury, and it would be ugly.

You just know Rose is going to start mouthing off if the team continues to lose while his minutes continue to decrease.

It also gives them another expiring contract for 2007 and a player capable of playing 3 positions. The Knicks don't have a lot of good ballhandlers right now, so adding Rose makes some sense for the Knicks.

He makes too many bad decisions and wouldn't look to get his teammates involved. He would just jack up shots whenever he has the chance.
