<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Unheralded Smush Parker, who was only invited to training camp because he impressed the Los Angeles Lakers in the summer league, has been one of the early season NBA surprises. Despite going scoreless in Wednesday night's loss at Minnesota, he is averaging 14.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.6 assists and only 1.4 turnovers in 35.8 minutes a game.

The point guard is also one of the most popular Lakers among fans and his teammates because of his never-let-up style and the fact that he has certainly paid his dues. Though he is only 24, Parker, who wasn't drafted by any NBA team, has played in Greece and the NBA Development League and had stints with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Detroit Pistons and Phoenix Suns.

He is in the record books as the first NBDL player to record a triple-double, doing it twice last season for the Florida Flames.

"I always knew I was going to get an opportunity," said the 6-4 Parker, whose given first name is William. "I just had to be patient and take advantage of it when it came."

Said Kobe Bryant: "He has a high basketball I.Q., and I think the journey that he took to get here prepared him well for the situation he is in now."</div>

If Smush continues to play the way he plays, our PG problem is solved.

Yea, Smush is great like I've said numerous times, I really like this guy. I think he fits well in the triangle not having to handle the ball so much with Odom and Kobe there. Defensively when I saw him play against the suns he improved a lot since his day's in Cleveland when I just started watching. He's got the coolest name after Zaza, and he's playing much better than everyone thought, those are enough reasons for me to like him even more.

He played really well against the Suns, even had a couple steals on Nash.
