That is the only positive I can come up with after watching the 76ers pull out a 85-81 win tonight in philly. Wincing in pain after each missed shot by Kobe (7-27 shooting) I saw few bright spots in a game that can be used for only moral victories, if anything. 1) Chris Mihm finally showed up with 20 pts and 9 rebs. 2) Despite his shooting woes Kobe had his best all around game of the season with 17pts 9 rebs and 7 asts- A stat line most players would be thrilled to post. 3) Even with their star player completely out of sync the Lakers team play managed to keep them in the game, only losing by 4 which was cemented until the waning seconds. All in all, this was a hard game to watch knowing each missed shot was lowering Kobe's FG%...luckily they have a home stand coming up.
It's ok, even the greatest of greats have bad nights, just not very often. Let's hope we don't see anything like this for a VERY LONG time.

If Philly had lost, it would have been because they shot themselves in the foot, not because they were outplayed. I was screaming at the damn TV so much cause the Sixers were pissing me off, it seemed at times they were trying to lose the game instead of trying to win it.
I read your post. I laughed. I then looked at your favorite team and player. You are a homer. Simple as that. Kobe was handled by Andre I. Their is nothing good about that.
im sure kobe will bounce back. He was defended pretty well by iguodala and the other sixers players... Every starplayer has his day.. Kobe is irreplaceable for the lakers.. he redeemed himself in the 4th quarter by managing to score 17 pts 9 rebs and 5 assists(ithink)... Even when he has a bad shooting night initially he was able to finish strong... so giv credit to kobe on that.

No disrespect to Andre. He did keep Kobe on his toes all game, but Andre always had help when kobe tried to drive the lane. If Kobe was one on one on Andre all night, it prob would have been different.
I really hope we dont lose to the KNICKS on national t.v and give them their first win of the season!!!!!
Just because your an all-star like kobe doesnt mean wont have off nights, but this time the sixers controlled the game.

Kobe was so frustrated, he was just forcing to make something happen.
I cant believe Lakers lost...out of all the teams the 76ers. I didnt watch the game I just saw the score today how embarassing @_@
AI had a big game and the Sixers barely pulled out the win. Kobes scoring was drastically down and his team almost won (after he dragged them back into it). His shooting was horrible but 9 rebs and 7 assts show he affected the game in other ways. He wasn't forcing shots, he was taking the ones he usually takes and makes.
Too bad they are only going to play each other twice a year. I'm looking forward to see them matchup once again in L.A. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I cant believe Lakers lost...out of all the teams the 76ers. And afterall, you had to be a little skeptical at least about the Lakers chances in this game especially since it was being played in Philadelphia. Remeber entering this game Kobe was 1-5 when playing in Philadelphia as a starter.
O god,Laker fans, stop it.YOU did not win the game and almost winning doesn't give you a big W after the game. You get an L after almost winning. Now I remember why I don't like you guys.

The Sixers weren't doing anything revolutionary here. Honestly, if stars were guarded one-on-one all game, they'd be unstoppable. Iggy played great D and thats that. That is a weak excuse.
Kobe did have a bad shooting night, but he was trying to do other things to help the team win. I like him better inside the post fighting for rebounds, he was out jumping everyone for second chance opportunities. He also set his teammates up for some clean looks. I watched the replay again last night. The Lakers offense in general was terrible. The spacing was awful and no one was moving in the Tri after the initial pass. Everytime the ball went inside the post player just held on to it instead of swinging it through to the other side. PJax needs to figure out a better person than Mihm to pass the ball around in the post. He's too, indecisive and has no touch on his passes. This is where the Warriors really miss Luke Walton. I imagine he starts when he comes back to direct traffic and improve the ball movement. The 76ers defense played a major role in the Lakers offensive struggle. They sent two players everytime and forced bad decision makers to make split second decisions. When Kobe was double teamed no one rotated around to give him a passing angle. No one cut to the basket for a layup and Kobe had to drive against two or three players leading to a bad shot or turnover. The two plays that really killed the momentum was Devean George missing a pair of three pointers early in the offense. Those misses stung and allowed the 76ers to get out and run. The second one hurt the most because Salmons then made one on the other end. That 6 point swing basically sealed the win for Philly. After going through that game again, my patience for Kwame is all, but gone. He is completely lost on offense, and bobbled so many passes that hit him right in his hands. One pass managed to hit him in the face because he wasn't ready for it. He also missed Kobe for a pass after Kobe flashed to the free throw line for a wide open look. It was one of the few open looks he had all night. Kwame had more turnovers than rebounds last night, which is embarrassing.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting ilive4ball:</div><div class="quote_post">i cant beleive ur hatin on kobe in a laker forum...</div>haha, how can you hate on a player who went 7 for 27 and only scored half his season average? We all know even the superstars have off nights, Kobe had one last night and the swarming defense of the Sixers definitely had something to do with that, not only the big AI but the guys who double down'd Kobe anytime he got near the paint. We see what Kobe was able to do at the end, he imposed his will and tied the game even with the defense the Sixers were playing. He attacked and when he gets in that mode, not much anything anybody can do to stop him. I thought he was gonna pull it out for his team but AI wanted it a little bit more and made sure to hit his open J when it counted. This was the first game I really watched Kwame Brown, the boy is quick, at least he looked so against CWebb. After watching a few times when Kwame just blew by CWebb with ease I wondered "why don't they put the ball in that guys hands more?" then after he missed time after time I realized why. I was pretty impressed with Kwame's ability to get to the rim, and the manner in which he did it, but he just can't seem to finish.

Physically he has all the tools Amare has, but Kwame doesn't finish like a 7 footer, and play above the rim. If I were coaching him I'd have him sprint up and down the court and yell at him to slam the ball as hard as he can with both hands. He needs to learn how to dunk with force and just throw it down everytime he's near the rim. No more of this finess nonsense. Just rise up and flush the damn ball down the rim.
