Top Half of Bracket Duke Boston University Manhattan Seton Hall Sam Houston St. Missouri Drexel Princeton Bottom Half of Bracket Miami(OH) Alabama Memphis UW-Milwaukee Army Temple New Mexico St. UCLA *Bold names are home team Dukies have a cake walk, then the winner of the bottom bracket will be proven
Wow the bottom half of the bracket gets very interesting with Memphis, Alabama, Temple, and UCLA, all teams that can be serious contenders. I definitely want to see a Mardy Collins verses Jordan Farmar matchup

I'm going for Duke in this as they will probably win, but New Mexico St. is in there and and my good friends brother is a starter for the Aggies. So I'm also going for them.
This tournament has been pretty weak so far, not as good as last year when Zona, Michigan, and Wake were in it.
Arron Afflalo is playing some great basketball right now for UCLA. He's been their best player, and so far Farmar has only played well in the second half of UCLA's first game. They blew out Temple last night, and dominated them on the glass. Temple made a nice run to start he second half, but UCLA didn't fold like they were doing last year. My favorite player in the tourney so far has to be Darius Washington out of Memphis though. His handles are nasty, and he can get to the basket anytime he wants. I think Dozier is going to be a great player for them as well. He's very confident and smooth on the court. The way he plays reminded me of how Chris Webber played at Michigan. Memphis press took Steele completely out of the game and wore him down quick. Should be interesting to see how Farmar deals with that press.
I think the UCLA-Memphis game will be very good. One of the best in the early season. Memphis has to eliminate some of the mistakes they are making. I guess with six of their top 9 guys first year players they will take time to eliminate stupid mistakes.

Not having Shipp is going to hurt them against Memphis. The press and depth of Memphis is going to eventually wear down Afflalo and Farmar. I hope UCLA can pull it off, it be a nice win for them and the Pac-10.
Well...I hope Tubby and company was watching the Memphis-Bama game last night, because Memphis found a way to slow Steele down and that was by playing a fast tempo game. You could tell that Steele was really struggling to play at a fast pace and I hope that Kentucky will do the same with Rondo and company this season... The UCLA-Memphis game should be very interesting to say the least. The battle between sophomore PG's Affalo and Washington should be very exciting!
Memphis v. UCLA should be a great game that just got under way. Freshman Shawnee Williams is playing AMAZING early with 9 points (3-3 from deep!) with Memphis up by 3 should turn out to be a good one. Keep an eye on that game...
Duke won 78-68 in a very close game, it was almost too close, but Drexel missed easy shots and free throws down the stretch and blew it with turnovers.....
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting J_Ray:</div><div class="quote_post">Duke won 78-68 in a very close game, it was almost too close, but Drexel missed easy shots and free throws down the stretch and blew it with turnovers.....</div> Drexel gave Duke all they can take and I must say this isn't one of those "elite" Duke teams that some thought it was like in the early 90's with Hill and company. As Drexel showed this Duke team looks very beatable. It won't be easy to be them but an average team I believe can come in and knock off Duke. First off you would have to get Sheldon Williams in foul trouble early (which he does in a lot of games) to get him off the floor, second you need to hold JJ Reddick to an average game for him. You can't let him go off for 35 points when Sheldon isn't on the court. If you can do that it puts a lot of pressure on McRoberts, Nelson, and Paulus, the young guys, to make plays and come March that might be a lot to ask out of them. I never said it's going to be easy to beat Duke but a good defensive squad or a team that can put up 80-100 points can knock them off. Also the Memphis v. UCLA game was a blowout the entire game yet you look at the final score and you would say it's close. The Tigers just took it to UCLA in the first half, going up by 17 and didn't look back since. What a show put on by Shawne Williams, 26 points, 20 coming in the first half and the big man is showing some range as well (5-7 from deep). Duke verses Memphis should be a good one...
