<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Ryan Gomes had a rather uncertain role in his first four games, playing sparingly as the Celtics tried to solidify a rotation. But in the last two games, the rookie out of Providence College has been the first Celtic off the pine and has played more than 19 minutes each time. ?I?m just trying to get him in,? coach Doc Rivers said after the C?s 102-82 win over Houston. ?He?s a good player, so I?m just trying to find ways to get him in the game. That?s basically what I?m doing ? nothing deeper than that. ?I just think he?s a good basketball player. He just seems to make things happen. He?s always around the ball. He?s probably one of our better rebounders.? Gomes had eight points and five rebounds against the Rockets, leading a bench that had an overall slow evening. ?And he didn?t play well,? Rivers said. ?He didn?t play bad, but he?s a better player than he played tonight. But he still made things happen.? Gomes is happy to get the opportunity to contribute. ?It was nice to get the early call,? he said. ?I?ve just got to keep working in practice and keep trying to help the team get better. That?s my goal and my job. When I come into a game I?m supposed to bring energy and pick up on the things that didn?t happen when the other group was in. I want to play help defense and get rebounds. Everything else will work out if I do that.?</div> Source
I always like Gomes's playing style...and was happy that celtics got him on draft night now my big question is...how many min he is going to play this season on avg I believe he can play at least 2 positions...so what's his role with the team? Like a 8th man kind of thing behind dickau+Al?

So since they both start, he pulls Ricky 5-6 minutes into games, and brings out Gomes (or Reed, although it looks like Reed lost the spot to Gomes) to replace him. If Gomes stays in that role, he'll end up getting 15-20 mpg.
