Funny, ever since preseason started the Charlie doubters have dissapeared. I know it's only been 6 games, but he has proven everyone who doubted him (including me when Babcock drafted him) wrong, and is playing great for a rookie. Now, I know Villanueva is going to have his off nights, but I think he is on his way to shredding his reputation of not being a hard worker and is going to have a solid career. If he can improve his defense and rebounding, he is going to be a great player.
Haven't seen him actually play yet, but he's putting up some nice numbers. I still don't like the position they drafted him at, but he's doing better than expected. A lot of players drafted after him are also exceeding expectations. Are him and Bosh effective when they are on the court together?
Yes, Shape they are, actually they're real effective. Charlie covers the 4 while Bosh covers the 5 judging from the Sonics game, but it seems that Charlie's numbers are really really affected by the play of Jose Calderon whom is a great PG, I dont care about the crucial turnovers he got against the sonics because its a learning process for him right now and you learn by making mistakes. I dont expect to see those kind of turnovers in the future though. Charlie doubters have dissapeared because of his play and I do find it funny, the moment the Raptors drafted Charlie I was pissed. But a few days after the draft he started growing on me and I've liked him since, I was mad with the Graham draft pick a lot longer though. I wouldnt know If I'd call myself a doubter but Charlie has surprised me.
charlie surprised a lot of people...including me i still think though that if toronto's management misused him...he will become a more atheletic version of antoine airball walker soon Besides...toronto starters are so inconsistent (bosh excluded) what he does is not 100% indictive of what he can/can't do, i think we can only tell if charlie is actually a good pick or not when we get a REAL team and once defenders start to figure him out etc etc He still needs to work on his defence big time...but hey...his progress already surprised a lot of people... one thing for sure..he will be better than Araujo "White Bateer"
I gotta admit, I was a Charlie doubter, but I just waited to see what he could do instead of going crazy like Stephen A. Smith. I still have my concerns with his game: Can he rebound better? Will he learn to be a better defender? Will he develop into a spot up shooter or a legit forward? If he develops as hoped, will he find enough minutes in a Raps lineup? I'm relieved that he's shown he actually does belong in the League, but by no means has he answered all of my questions.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting og15:</div><div class="quote_post">To tell the truth, he's really only had one actual "good" game so far....</div> What this gentleman said.
i agree too....only one "good" game, but he's had a couple decent games. he's certainly shown signs of being a real contributor, and we can all see his potential. he certainly hasnt shed any of his stigma's imo. he'll prove to me that he's a hard worker, when he starts putting up good numbers on a consistant basis
dude we be 0-6 and we played 5 games at home...newsflash-we stuck. who cares about how good the e.t. resembling dude is.

He played one good game against a very bad team. Enough said. This team needs a go to guy, a legit scorer decent defender and is willing to lead the team in every aspect of the game. Bosh who is marketed as the team's "franchise" player clearly isnt cutting it.
You want to know why Villanueva is finding success on offense when Bosh is not? Because Bosh draws double and triple teams every time he touches the ball and that creates opportunities for Villanueva. Bosh looks like he's struggling stat-wise, but he is the reason CV gets the looks.

He hasn't been that great. Had a good pre-season, a breakout game vs. Seattle, and one other good game (vs. Wizards?). I still regret us picking him at 7. Oh well, it's a better pick than 2004's.

Well, he's had two good games now. 17 points, 8 rebs at the half. I'm excited by what I've seen from him so far. Granted, this is only his 2nd really good game but he's played consistently and shot a good percentage in every one of his games so far. He definitely should be in the running for ROY by the end of this year with his minutes and role on this team.
