Picked him up a couple of days ago on sole account of his shotblocking and rebounding. Will Diop be a consistent player on the Mavs this year or is his recent streak just a fluke? He's never been one to receive constant minutes in his career and I'm not sure if he can keep it up. If this is a fluke, when should the time be ripe when I drop him in anticipation of his stats dropping?
Diop might continue to get minutes this year. If anyone here really follows the Mavs, the know how horrid Damp has been since being acquired. He's been inconsistent and hasn't really been the player they were expecting. He's one of those players that performed well during his contract year, just to rake in the cash. It also helps that he's a big man. But nevertheless, Damp has not been getting huge minutes (23.6), and Diop has been getting decent minutes because of it. So, if you're just looking for blocks and maybe boards, he might be serviceable to you for quite some time, especially if he can continue to get 2 blocks and 6 boards a night in just 17 minutes.
Unless something sparks Dampier, Diop will continue to get 20-25 mins a game. Diop's rebounds are a bit inconsistent, but he'll give you 2 blks a game. Eddie Griffin is a better alternative if he's available.
