http://www.gazellegroup.com/guardians/ Most likely, Kentucky will play Iowa next Monday and Texas will play WVU. So this is looking like its going to be a dandy of tournament!
Thats abit more than a bold prediction..... a dream maybe? Gl though, lord knows I wouldn't mind seeing the sips knocked down a peg or two
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting ItsShowtyme24:</div><div class="quote_post">I think they can be good, but losing Pierre was huge!</div> Losing Pierce was a huge loss to them... last season. They already coped with his departure the whole second half of the season; they've moved on. Now it's all about Horner, Haluska, and Brunner - three players who all have great chances of finishing on the All-Big Ten team. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Thats abit more than a bold prediction..... a dream maybe? Gl though, lord knows I wouldn't mind seeing the sips knocked down a peg or two</div> Not at all; it's just a bold prediction. Texas is ranked as the #2 team in the nation by a lot of polls, but there's a huge gap between #1 Duke and Texas; the Longhorns are definitely not infallible. I actually don't think they'll win this tournament. You have to realize that while they have one of the most talented rosters in the nation, it's an inexperienced roster. P.J. Tucker and LaMarcus Aldridge haven't played with the rest of the team since about the midway point of last season, and their star is just entering his second season of college basketball. Compare them to a team like Iowa whose starting lineup consists of three seniors and two juniors, or even West Virginia whose starting lineup consists of four seniors and one junior. Both teams have the edge in experience. Anyway, I'm predicting a Texas and Iowa final with an Iowa win, but it's not hard to see Kentucky winning out either.
Kentucky has looked like crap in their first 2 games. They beat Lipscomb by 18 and South Dakota State by 17, but they had a single digit lead all throughout both games. They really need a one of the 7-footers to step up for them to even think about winning agaisnt the big guys. Their leading rebounder, by the way, is PG Rajon Rondo who is averaging 9 boards a game thus far. But thankfully, guys like Ravi Moss, Rekalin Sims, and Ramel Bradley have came off the bench and provided us with a lot of things that the starters haven't...I think once these guys start getting used to playing together, then everything will be fine...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Voodoo Child:</div><div class="quote_post"> Not at all; it's just a bold prediction. </div> Well I know youth has draw backs, but its not always the detriment people seem to think it is. Many times freshman can play fine under pressure (see melo a few years back). Also was not saying that the couldn't lose, just that I dont see them falling to west virginia....and even if the manage to beat texas, it will not be handily
Texas and West Virginia are on right now, Texas sucks in Zone. The cutter are getting lay-ups for WV, Gansey and Pittsnogle are going to take this team deep again.....
Texas ended up winning it 76-75 off of a bucket in the paint by Aldridge with 3 seconds left. West Virginia would have won this easily but they missed key free throws at the end of the game and Texas capitalized on them...

Great played game by both teams. WVU is for real, but I'm glad Texas pulled it out. BTW- Hey everyone
Kentucky is in a battle right now with Iowa on the duece and zona is ontop of Kansas on espn. Lots of good tough games tonight

Texas was right in the palm of West Virginia's hand at the end, but they just choked under the pressure. It could have very easily been a West Virginia win. I'm still sticking by my prediction of Iowa over Texas. The Hawkeyes looked horrible shooting the ball and had a lot of opportunities to take a commanding lead and blew them, yet they still came out with the victory over #7 ranked Kentucky. That's impressive. There's no way they'll shoot as bad as they did tonight against Kentucky when they face Texas. BTW - Welcome back CUSA! Long time no see; are you going to have time to get back to posting again?
I've never really followed NCAA Basketball in the past until March Madness comes around but this year I'm giving it a shot. I'm sick of watching the NBA Draft and not knowing a single person in that year's draft class. So this season, I decided I would watch as much college basketball as I could. Texas vs. West Virgina was my first time tuning into a game since last year's championship game (the only timed I really followed NCAA). With that said, this was a great way to kick off my NCAA season. A few players jumped out at me. LaMarcus Aldridge looked very impressive on offense, defense and on the boards. I was very suprised to find out that he was injured for a chunk of last year because his game looked unaffected. He looks good and he came up big for the Longhorns in the end. Mike Gansey looked phenominal and in this game scoring 28 points and did a great job getting open on the final play of the game. He got blocked on his buzzer beating shot but still had a great game. I have heard that Pittsnoogle is a great player but I didn't see much of him during this game. I'm glad I tuned in for this game because it was exciting the entire time and definently got me hyped up for this year's college basketball season.

At the end of the day Texas won, just like I thought they would, and WV lost. WV blew a huge lead it could be said, or on the other hand a young texas team composed themselves and came from behind to win the game. I hate the longhorns...I'm an aggie so thats pretty much a given. I never argued they couldn't lose, just that it wouldn't be "handily"- thats why I said it was a dream. As for Iowa the key matchup will be down in the post. If Buckman can control the Paint Texas will win
